shortandsweetem, those are some really good thoughts. i love this song and i am so excited for feb. 19 when this album comes out... can't wait! the line "Now all your love is wasted? Then who the hell was I?" gets me every single time. it's so laid out bare and emotional, i love all of the random pictures that it brings to your head. so incredibly poetic... this guy is a genius. |

"pitches you ought to be and soon" should be "PICTURES you ought to be in soon," "why do you think you're here? trouble the backseat worry the windshield with that face" should be "why do you think WE'RE here? YOU trouble the backseat YOU worry the windshield with that face," "head of st. catherine hearts that willl run to meet you we only volunteers my ear" should be "THE head of st. catherine"S the hearts that will run to meet you we ARE only volunteers my DEAR" and "i reckon i'd say some sometimes" should be "i reckon i'd say SO sometimes." also, st. catherine's is a college in minneapolis/st. paul, where the band is from... i'm pretty sure it's a reference to the college and not the actual saint, but those are some good thoughts. |

i just heard him play this live-in-studio on the radio today. AMAZING. he has ashow tonight near where i live, but i have finals tomorrow. honestly. best discovery ever. his songs make me just want to lie in the grass and watch clouds. this one seems like it might be about an unborn baby, as in "i wear my garment so it shows" and the refernces to womb. the whole feel of the song is that he's simulating being in the womb, surrounded by maroon and "lapping lakes" also "rope burns" could be the umbilical cord. it's almost kind of gross but it's still SO SO beautiful! i thank god for justin vernon. |
