Like darkness said I think this song is about alcohol dependance. When I first heard this song I immediately thought it was about substance abuse. Basically the line "Say goodbye, as we dance with the devil tonight" says about it. everytime you use drugs or alcohol, you dance with the devil, meaning you destroy your life and advance to a bad ending a bit more. everytime you dance you are at great risk, given the nature of the "partner". the lone "Here I stand, helpless and left for dead" tells how addicts feel often about their habit and why many of them use substances in the first place . "Close your eyes, so many days go by" means how addicts often lose hours and even days of their life due to the effects of drugs. and when later I read about lead singers alcoholism and how he even tried to drank himself to death, it made me pretty certain that this is imo the real meaning of this song |

believe me there are people who have even worse luck. besides i don't know if this is karma or something, but i've seen many people who are accomplished in one aspect of life, but have the worst luck in other. Draiman is a godly and accomplished musician, but his personal life suffers like few others. |
