If you listen to the 2nd verse...it says it all. I believe this song is about how people are actually beginning to question what religions are saying to them. Also, many religions have always asked for donations from the "desperate people's feelings" in order to prosper above the other religions around the world. And then if you think about it, you begin to realize that all of these people's insecurities have been "healed" by stories written in a book that millions believe in, when actually these very same people put up with the very same bullsh*t that everyone endures in everyday life-no one lives without stress. And furthermore...what has caused the most wars in the world's history...(give up?)...religion!!! CASE CLOSED!!!! |

"The Outsider" is about the oblivious person in someone's life that doesn't really understand what in the hell their friend is going through. Many people may think that this song is about the abuser, when in fact it is actually about the one who is caught up on drugs/alcohol. If you question what I am saying, go out and by aMOTION and listen to the commentary. |

"I just didn't want to know"
This song is about a loved one who instead of seeing what a person is really going through in their life, they simply deny everything that they see ("Such a lovely color for your eyes"); the blue tone of their skin goes with their eyes. On the aMOTION CD/DVD, Maynard tells of the example of someone in your life asking, "Hey, how you doin'?", but instead of actually caring, they simply want an, "I'm fine." so that they can carry on with what they wanted to do that day and not have to worry about you.

The #1 meaning behind Weak & Powerless is about a person that has turned to drugs, alcohol, etc. and has finally realized that they no longer have control of their own life. If you watch the video for this song, you'll realize that the woman attempts to fill the void in her life by continually adding lizards, snakes, etc. into the hole, but the empty hole (in her life) never trully fills until she gets over what it is that is driving her towards these feelings. According to Maynard, as soon as this healing takes place, the hole will heal itself (Trust Him).

If anyone has ever watched the DVD that comes with aMOTION CD, it tells exactly what this song is about; I suggest that everyone buys this CD by the way. This song is about someone who is suffering inside, but the ones around them (even their close friends) never notice (denial of the state that they are in), but instead grasp on in order to take advantage of the persons current state of mind. |
