It seems to me as if it's describing the children of Yassin, a terrorist group that only accepts those under 18. They believe that they're "chosen" by providence. They're being lead to blind killing. They often have confrontation with parents before joining, which explains the "Mother's cry," wondering why her child's bones must burn (in a suicide bomb). They also believe that war is the only way to stop America. |

"Alvin Tostig has a son today,
And he shall be Levon"
Apparently Alvin is the father of Levon, Jesus's grandfather. |

It's funny. I've got a bunch of elton john cd's, and one of them had this song. I ripped it onto my computer, and the title appeared as "Candle in the Wind." I put it onto my mp3 player, and it appeared as "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me |

This song seems to be from the standpoint of a child, what with "The moon is chasing me," and "so, play." It's also very dreamlike, as you wouldn't notice a leaf falling from a limb unless you were dreaming. Dreaming enhanses your senses, even though you're not actually using them while dreaming. |

In the folsom field version, at 5:54: to 5:56, after "I have no time, to just" and before "fool, you're blind." He should be saying "to justify to you." He's saying something really weird. I reversed the speech, and it sounds, near as I can tell, like he's saying "Scrumptious town deserves this." |

If Mr. Matthews says he's agnostic, he is. References to Jesus, Judas, and perhaps God in a song means nothing. He mentions also "the devil and the lord both dancing," and "God's grace lost and the devil is proud."
I make such references to religious figures myself in songs, art and writing. I don't do this because I believe in that figure, but because they're widely recognized. People will always appreciate the errant "Jesus" in a song, but it doesn't mean you believe. |
