Don Williams – I Believe In You Lyrics 14 years ago
This is why he is the King. Truer words were never spoken. Or more appropriate words for our time even after 30 years.

Kris Kristofferson – The Silver-Tongued Devil and I Lyrics 15 years ago
A damned travesty that there are only a handful of comments on the collection here of one of the greatest lyricist of all time.

This is a story about treating women poorly and the remorse he feels about it. Almost a Jekyll and Hyde bit. A tongue-in-cheek excuse for his scoundrel ways.

Neil Young – For The Turnstiles Lyrics 18 years ago
I think "granite laid" refers to the granite headstone we all will likely be laid beneath. And the white sheet is just another reference to death- as in the white sheet they pull over you on your deathbed.
The last stanza seems to elude to a "we all die alone" concept. Not sure if that was what he was going for. Just something I hear.

The Mountain Goats – In Corolla Lyrics 19 years ago
After hearing that last line, I shuddered as I realized he was drowning himself. It's not only an ending to a song, but an ending for the whole album. A very haunting bit of closure for the lonliness described throughout the entire recording...Chilling. And Perfect.

The Mountain Goats – Get Lonely Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm afraid to take a breath until he does once the song is over. And even then... it's a very shallow breath.
