It sounds like someone lost in a beurocracy and left with nothing. It's remeniscant of the early Soviet Union to me, but I don't know if that's what they were going for. I guess the talk of a revolutioner dying and fading away just sorta puts the thought in my mind. |

I seem to recal reading an interview somewhere in which the singer said the lyrics basically were telling people to be sceptical about their religious beliefs. I think they recognized organized religion as a powerful tool in governments toward the ends of tyrany and wanted to express that one must look inward before they look to the heavens because they may not get an answer. |

It's hard to tell what they were writing about here because it's so general that it could be applied to so many situations. To me it looks like WWI because of the nieve ideals of the kids they sent out and the lines "Thrown into the fire - to make a few meters of land." really sound like the trench warfare they introduced then. But like I said, this could really be about a number of situations. |

I agree with removeyourteeth. This seems to be about people creating their own gods through their art. It seems to me like a retrospective look though. That they themselves have created their own deities as well and are sort of taken back upon noticing it. |
