well i for one think this is one of my favorite songs of all time. and i say this because it's unlike anything i've ever heard. i'm not a big modest mouse fan at all really. i own only one album by them and it is We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank ( i also like the majority of the songs on this cd). it's not like i just discovered them because of this song. i actually first learned of them when Float On got play on MTV. but they didnt interest me then. i have vaguely read some of the points people have said here and im kinda just stating to myself here that i could care less what a true modest mouse fan thinks of me for liking this song so much. im not really argueing with anyone here so i feel kind of dumb just pointing out my facts. i have heard some of MM's old material and none of it really interests me much. but let me just state, Modest Mouse may get some play on MTV but i extremely doubt they'll EVER become a mainstream band. EVER. their sound is too unique for mainstream kids to enjoy easily, like Fall Out Boy or whoever you wanna use as an example. they may gain some new fans from mainstream play, but they will mostly be people who can respect this type of music genius. but yeah, this is an amazing song lol. |

the version of this song that i have seems to be alot longer then the lyrics posted here. this is only like half the song compared to mine. but anywayy. i believe this song is about a girl pressuring a guy into sex and he's not sure if he wants to yet. The only thing that kinda confuses me is the, "That's my father" part. |

Maybe his songs have deep meanings, including this song, but these just aren't good lyrics at all, if i was writing about my WIFE, it wouldnt be like this... these lyrics are like what a Boy Band would write to just make a 'love' song to fill an album up to sell. |

I think this song is written poorly, and I really don't like the way he sings it...
I don't see why this song has as much play as it does on MTV and such. |
