I think this song is obviously about love, and losing a lover, through death or being dumped, or maybe just being separated from someone. Here's my translation: When I walk, I walk. When I sleep, I sleep. When I sing, I sing. I abandon myself. When I walk, I walk straight. When I sing, I sing bare[?]. And when I love, I only love you. When I think about it/you, I don't sleep anymore. I am here. I am inside. I am up. I wouldn't mock myself at all anymore. Listen to what you told me. The song of the world when it rains. When the dawn rises I am there. And when the night falls I fall too. I am here. I am inside. I am up. I wouldn't mock myself at all anymore. When I am hungry Everything nourishes me. The dogs' barking, and then the rain. When you leave, I stay here. I abandon myself. And I forget about you. |

| i just saw anais in concert, and she said that she wrote this song about a drummer she performed with in austin, tx. he was the same age as her and had dreams of becoming a star, but he died suddenly in his apartment in nyc in his early twenties...pretty sad. | |

| This song is a parent reminiscing about his/her daughter, who left the family farm for bigger and better things. Perhaps the daughter is meant to be Mitchell, who grew up on a sheep farm. I like how it's told from the parent's point of view, showing their love for her, but also their disappointment that she didn't stick around and carry on the family tradition. | |
