I like this tune a lot too. I guess it has some gay overtones, but I think if you look at the time it was written, it kind of fits into that whole early 70's androgynous glam rock scene. In fact, it was written by David Bowie, the king (queen?) of androgyny. |

Another extraordinary tune from the Beatles, specifically Sir Paul. The modulation where Paul sings "I want her ev’rywhere, and if she’s beside me I know I need never care, But to love her is to meet her ev’rywhere" never ceases to amaze me. |

I'm not exactly sure what this song is about. To me it seems to having something to do with just moving on in life "We'll hit the road, never looking behind" and "throw away the bad news, just put it to rest". I just think it's a beautiful melancholy song and I love the symbolism in it. Jay Farrar's voice is perfect. The whole album that this song is from is awesome- great for driving the open road in the desert somewhere. |

I heard Morrison really hated this song because it was way too poppy and commercial sounding. In fact, they threw in the line "stronger than dirt" at the end as a joke. "Stronger than dirt" was a slogan used by some laundry detergent company at the time. So the Doors felt it was a perfect addition to what they felt was a cheesy pop tune. Personally though, I think it's a pretty cool song. |

Sorry to tell you this, but you're waaaaay off the mark with the whole racist take. It doesn't say "bigut2" on the cd sleeve- it's just the word "stupid" spelled backwards. The "s" and the "d" are also backwards. I think this song is just about a guy who hired some guy to do some work around his house, not realizing his girlfriend/wife had dated him at one point, so he feels stupid. |
