Jimmy Eat World – Call It In The Air Lyrics 3 years ago
@[MrGrunge:44673] shut up you moron. Just because people have particular opinions doesn’t make them “less of a fan” than you. Pull your head out of your ass.

Jack's Mannequin – Dark Blue Lyrics 18 years ago
Someone told me this song had something to do with spending months apart from his fiancée- the Dark Blue reference was the colour of the lightbulb she had in her bedroom. I don't really see how it correlates to being apart from someone you love, but I like the idea behind the meaning.

Something Corporate – Falling For You Lyrics 18 years ago
This is not a Something Corporate song, it is too often mislabeled on P2P programs as a SoCo song, but it's actually by a lesser known band called Student*Rick.

Chris Daughtry – Used to Lyrics 18 years ago
My girlfriend and I have only been together for 3 and a half months, but we used to be so amazingly in love with eachother. We'd talk on MSN everyday since we got eachother's addresses, she texted me whenever we couldn't talk on MSN, and I used to go see her every day after college, and stay with her every weekend.

Summer holidays came up, and I started to stay for periods longer than the weekend, at first it was fine, she loved me being there for a week, two weeks, then I stayed for three weeks, things went sour, I came home for four days, and things have been strange between us ever since. We both still love eachother, but it feels like we're growing apart, and I'm just filling my days reminiscing about the way things were... I feel she could end it any minute, and I'm dreading it, but I don't want to end it.

This song has been on repeat since she told me things have changed earlier today. I think that it's pretty straightforward that this is what the song represents... Losing a spark, and desperately wanting it back.

Robbie Williams – Man Machine Lyrics 19 years ago
Because the whole world of music is built on drawing from influences and changing songs slightly to create something totally new. Listen to the entire album "American Idiot" by Greenday and tell me you can't hear any likenesses to any classic rock songs. Sugababes "Push The Button" - Try singing along the word's to Wham's "Last Christmas"... It's everywhere you just have to notice.

But anyway, onto the song. I love it. Fits perfect in that scene in Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels after Ed walks out of the police station scot-free. Watched that movie again the other day and the song stuck in my head, hadn't heard it in ages, but it's just one of those songs that makes me feel good, like it inspires confidence, almost as if by singing along you're making the statement that you're the mutt's nuts. And that's basically what I see the song as meaning. By calling himself a man machine, who drinks gasoline and shoots laserbeams, he is being confident in himself, saying he can achieve anything thrown at him, at the same time as - in the verses - standing up to someone who think's they're bigger or better and pointing out that in fact, he could very well be that person's better.

Great song.

Jimmy Eat World – Clarity Lyrics 19 years ago
My interpretation is based on experience and what I feel the song best describes.

The singer (narrator, whatever) has either been seeing a girl or has simply slept with her, while she has a boyfriend. And he is getting feelings for the girl he messed around with, but he can't have her because she's got her ties.

"I'll take your words, as if you were talking to me."
She's talking to her boyfriend, either on the phone while he's there, or they're all together, she's saying things to him, and the singer is simply imagining she's saying the things to him.

"Say what I know you'll say, and say it through your teeth."
Continuation of the above, she's saying "I love you" or similar to her boyfriend, but the singer knows she isn't entirely telling the truth because they slept together.

"Now in the deep and down, your heart moves."
She is getting feelings for the singer, or at least says she is, and is torn between the two guys in her life, whether she really feels for the singer or she just enjoys the fling.

"Now in the deep and down, I don't know how but I know I want out."
While she's doing this, he realises he's better off without her, better off moving on and finding someone else because this girl is going to do nothing but mess him around.

"Wait for something better.
Will I know when it can be us?"
He's tearing himself apart saying 'I'll move on, find someone else' and then asking her 'When can it be "us"?' As in when can it just be the two of them without the sneaking around and lying.

"Maybe that doesn't mean us."
He means that at present 'us' between them refers to the love triangle rather than the relationship the singer wants with the girl.

"Wait for something better?
I shouldn't, it's not enough."
Again, he's arguing with himself, asking if he should wait, but then saying that he won't be able to get over the feelings he has for this girl.

"Pull one excuse from another.
Just one excuse from another."
He realises he's contradicting himself, making excuses and then in the end decides there's no point in arguing with himself over it-

"This time it means us. Stop."
-and he goes back to the girl, as they fall into bed together, she tells the singer she loves him... And the cycle begins again.

This is just my interpretation, like I said, from experience of being in the singer's shoes... Thanks for reading.

Jimmy Eat World – Lucky Denver Mint Lyrics 19 years ago
I always thought that Lucky Denver Mint sounded like the name of a race horse, but couldn't quite pair the lyrics up to that, and then I came here to see if anyone had any other ideas and suddenly it all falls in with the silver dollar idea. Love Jimmy Eat World, love their music, the way it's always so powerful even in some of the simpler tracks.

Bowling for Soup – Belgium Lyrics 19 years ago
Personally, I dislike the original, I only like the acoustic as it's so much more serene and emotional.
I learnt to play it on the guitar and I can't stop, I just love it. There's so much emotion in the song it has to be done acoustic, the brass section, I think, ruins it.
The story behind the song pretty much tells itself, girlfriend left to move across the globe, singer misses her, can't stand sleeping alone as he's used to having her there. Hits home, hits hard.
Great song, favoured version being the acoustic on 28 of Drunk Enough To Dance. Awesome.

Good question, confused it with Coheed & Cambria's 2113 for a moment there... Possibly a respectful nod?

Staind – Right Here Lyrics 19 years ago
Only got into Staind recently after buying an old friend's CD collection (he was having money trouble so I lent a hand.) There was a lot of crap in there that I sold off again, but I noticed he had a lot fo Staind CD's. Having heard of them but never really given them a listen I set them to one side and gave them a play. I gotta say I loved it, and I got on the internet and downloaded some more Staind songs, and this and 'Outside' are the ones that get to me.

Basically I see it as being about an on-again-off-again relationship. She keeps doing things to upset the singer, playing away, whatever. But he always waits for her to come back, and she always does. Then one day he decides enough is enough, and walks away, but it's then that she realises she still wants him, so she waits, and he can't help but walk right back to her.

It hits home. It's a great song, if you haven't heard it, do so the first opportunity you get. (Although I'm not sure why you'd be searching for the song meaning if you hadn't heard it before...)

Funeral for a Friend – Bullet Theory Lyrics 19 years ago
And by the way, looklikewings, I was under the impression that 7/11 was some kind of shop- but I know you meant 9/11 (well, 11/9, REALLY, come on...).
No disrespect intended.

Funeral for a Friend – Bullet Theory Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah, I agree with addiscool. It's simply a reference to the idea of the 'single bullet theory', the song itself has totally FA to do with JFK... Unless Funeral For A Friend are a Welsh band asking a dead American president if he wants to dance a little more.
The way I see it is, the relationship has been great, but one tiny mistake and it's all suddenly going to hell. The smoke and the mirrors, to me, means that while all their friends are around, they're just putting a smile on things and pretending everything is OK, but they're trying to sort out the problem behind closed doors.
This is just my interpretation, and that the title only refers to the general idea behind what we know as the Single Bullet Theory- JFK doesn't come into it...

Fightstar – Grand Unification, Pt. II Lyrics 19 years ago
Well, as somebody posted in The Grand Unification Part I, the album is a concept album about the last day on Earth. What I see as happening, is this character broke up with his girlfriend (or whatever, bear with me), and then as the end of the world approaches he realises he didn't really want to leave her, and they try to fix things but they know it will be over soon. I think the 'hold my hand until the waves come' refers to some kind of tsunami that will swamp and destroy everything, maybe I'm just making links to the album cover. Oh well.

Prize Fighter Inferno – The Fight Of Moses Early & Sir Arthur McCloud Lyrics 19 years ago
Form what I can work out, Sir Arthur McCloud approached Moses Early regarding The Missing McCloud Boys, and they started a fight. Arthur McCloud wins, and possibly with his dying breath, Moses Early teases "They have no need for your boy", giving a hint that there is something higher at work, some sort of cult, perhaps? Don't know really, can't wait for The PFI story to come ot light, sounds like it's gonna be a good one.

Something Corporate – Plucked Lyrics 19 years ago
CHICKA-UH!
Yeah, this song is awesome, I wanted to do this as my public performance in GCSE English last year but I couldn't find any decent piano tabs for it, so I couldn't, ended up doing some classical piano piece of crap instead. I had it all set out to play and sing, just couldn't get the piano right or find any tabs for guidance... Oh well. So yeah, awesome song, heart 2 teh SoCo. Heh. Peace. x

Jack's Mannequin – The Lights and Buzz Lyrics 19 years ago
Recently I went through a bad spell, depression, being upset, seemed like nothing was going right. What a summer, eh? And the English weather doesn't help. A friend of mine saw how I was and he burned me a copy of Everything In Transit with The Lights And Buzz at the end. He gave it to me with a hug and a reassurance that it would get me through my troubles.
The second I started listening I was hooked, and found a smile forming on my face for the first time in a while. I sat on my windowsil watching the rain fall as I listened to it, smiling along. Then I came to The Lights And Buzz... At first I thought it sounded like it was going to be a negative song... But then I heard the motif; "It's good to be alive." And I smiled. I'm waiting for my friend to come back form holiday so I can thank him for this, as he made a point of telling me that the last track on the copy wasn't actually form the album, but he thought I could use it. It worked, this song has become something to cheer me up, and whenever I feel down, I just remember "It's good to be alive." Thanks Jacks Mannequin, thanks Andrew McMahon.
