whats so good about being drunk, dirty, unemployed and lazy and indifferent and apathetic? punk requires a captivated mind and the willingness to change how things work no matter who says you cant. you shouldnt be a "proud" punk who does nothing but get drunk and ramble on about how you hate everyone, be an active punk and bring revolution |

oh my god. this is the first time i have ever been offended by a band that calls themselves punk. holy shit. ive tried to side with the casualties before. they are just trying too hard to come across as punk. these are hateful lyrics. i dont delve too much into street punk but i hope its not all like this. as the guy above me said this is pushing on nazi stuff and making other punks look like ignorant violent assholes. wow |

| The Casualties – For The Punx Lyrics

ok its either one of a few things.
1. these guys are full of shit con artists and gave themselves the label of punk to try and sell records.
2. they are just really really bad at writing lyrics.
3. they like the spirit of punk and just want to say shallow punk phrases like "im not gonna do what you say" and misconstrue the punk message.
i think they lack a lot of creativity, like if you put this stuff up to bad religion which provokes many thoughts and shows the thought the writer put into it, the casualties lyrics seem like a 4 year old wrote it. this is un educated music labeled hardcore punk rock. from looking at their lyrics and i saw their set at warped tour it seems like the majority of their fans are very very uneducated on the roots of punk rock and ideology. it seems like they read a synopsis of punk philosophy that they try to promote and it comes off as very fake. it seems like they weren't misguided, curious, and rebellious before they got into punk it seems like they just kinda adopted a fake rebellious attitude after listening to punk music. i think that the true spirit of punk is best captured when punk rock alligns with your veiws before you started listening to it. |

| Dead Kennedys – Anarchy For Sale Lyrics

i have a theory that the only reason punks dress "similar" is just to identify with each other. when in an enviornment full of poeple in polo's abercrombie shirts and trendy fashions. i would say it would be refreshing to see a 3 foot lime green mohawk guy with plaids and boots and a DK shirt, and if i was wearing something similar we kinda identify with each other and without knowing each other kinda have a uniting tie. i fully beilieve that punk is not in the dress but in the mind, but the dress allows ppl to see into the punk part of your mind. which is why your shirts tatoos peircings hair etc is so important to punks its like a window to your thoughts |

| Crass – Punk Is Dead Lyrics
|
|
"punks not dead it just deserves to die when it becomes another stale cartoon."- DK. punk is dead in its truest universal sense bc its non conformity message has been corrupted. its like if you see a kid not with a mohawk or liberty spikes and studs at a show you will prob be like POSER! even tho in his right this kid may be the most hardcore mother fucker ever. like what disgusts me is when i got to shows and ppl make punk into a contest with clothes and punk merchandise and stuff, the essence of punk is unity so together we can become a force for social change, there is unity when your just giving kids dirty looks bc of how they dress or look. Also the kids who dont realize that pits symbolize brotherhood and love, i saw fist thrown in a pit once and i was almost conviced punk was meaningless. but the spirit that still thrives in me and millions of others assures me that punk will never die, but it will never be like it was |

hey kids you wanna look like a punk rocker? get shirts with little A's on them with a circle around them....dont forget your studs! and your hot topic gift card!. its just saying how the man tapped into our culture, fucked it up and turned it into style so now we have little girls mohawking their hair to be a punk rocker for halloween. clothes that were once wore to show the fashion industry and society that they could not tell us how to dress are now exactly how society and pop culture says you should dress.....damn shame, if i wear a dead kennedys shirt and my studs from a 1989 bad religion show its means the same as that chick in Vogue magazine with a joey ramone shirt on with and an ultra hip new stud belt. |

| Leftover Crack – So You Wanna Be A Cop? Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
|
god where is punk in drublic when you need him he would set all your asses straight. leftover crack and its fans oppose the idea of a police state in general. on top of that the ALL cops are enforcers of law, most fans believe the law is bullshit; making cops are bullshit pushers, no matter how nice they are or how well they try to do their job. Ya i've seen cops help people get people out of ditches and tell me how to get back on the highway but in my mind NO individual should have an open door to harass, beat, excersice authority, and act superior to me. Which is all stuff our law system and the police state allows cops to do. which is why we say LETS TAKE ALL THESE PIGGIES AND HAVE EM CRUCIFIED (listen to crack rock steady by choking victim) |

selling out is becoming a hypocite in order to make more money or become more well known. NOFX plays the same music, pisses the same people off, has the same message and still acts as if nobody has ever heard of them. they dont act like rock stars they dont buy million dollar cars they dont suck up to the public to get popular. in my eyes no matter how much money they are making now they didnt sell out |

dead prez is fuckin sweet i never really got in to rap but this is a good relief from the corrupt hip hop culture that is really popular right now. i listen to a lot of punk music and this carries a very similar message and unforetunately punk message doesnt reach black people bc they are usually more into rap. rappers like krs one and dead prez really help bring similar issues to the public and are using thier voice to really do some good thank you dead prez |

| NOFX – Leaving Jesusland (7" Version) Lyrics

this is about america and how they asssociate jesus and god with everything, like one nation under god kinda thing. since religion influences MOST peoples opinions or gays, drugs, users, punkers, emo kids and all that other stuff he mentions it just makes ppl hate.
at the end
"Punk rockers and emo kids
People doing things the church forbids
Buddhists, Agnostics and Atheists
We're moving out of Jesusland
Art students and thespians
Excluding country, all the musicians
We want all hookers and comedians
Nihilists are welcome too
thats when he's saying all the ppl that the religious fanatics discriminate and hypothetically they should just make theyre own little country free form "Jesus Rule" |

| Dead Kennedys – Chickenshit Conformist Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
the two kinds of music that fueled this time was punk and ska, ska is about accepting everyone and that if someone wants to listen to ska they are here for the same reason you are. the same maintality was originally part of punk ideology, kinda like every punk is a brother or sister, instead of bashing rich kids who like the sound of punk and dont really understand what its about (who you guys call posuers) because their parents worked hard to make a lot of money so their kid could be better off we could teach them what punk is really about and encourage them to stand up and fight for what they are claiming to believe in. we can cut out all the hate, by hating those kids your almost contradicting everything punk was created for... UNITY! |
