| Fountains of Wayne – Hat And Feet Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I might be miles off, but I reckon this guy has been dumped. He never saw it coming, totally out of the blue, taking him by surprise. Now he's got nothing going for him anymore. That hollow feeling is represented by having nothing between your shoes and headwear. | |
| Lene Marlin – Eyes Closed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its about a relationship that's ended, but she doesn't want to go with anyone else. she could have gotten with another guy, but she only wants you back. great song. |

| Apollo 440 – Stop The Rock Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is used on various air hockey tables around the uk. it's quite an appropriate tune but it made me laugh out loud the first time. | |

| it doesnt matter how many times you strike out with a girl, if you keep stepping up to the plate you'll hit one out eventually. | |
| South Park – What Would Brian Boitano Do? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
dont want to be seen as reading too much into it but: sometimes sportsmen get into the zone where it seems like theres nothing they cant do. i think the guys are getting up the courage to do what they need to, trying to get into the zone. after all, its what the best do. |
| Adam Sandler – The Lonesome Kicker Lyrics | 19 years ago |
great song, funny video. without wanting to read to deeply into it, the theme is simply not getting recognition for what you do at work. something many people can relate to. |
| Jim Jamison – Baywatch Theme (i'm Always Ready) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is a great song. it'll always be associated with baywatch, but it'd be a belter even without that link. its just about always being their for your girl and looking after her. |
| Rick Derringer – Real American Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i love this tune. cheesy as hell, but i just cant stop myself from head banging when the guitar kicks in for the first time. its just a classic music moment. | |
| John Fogerty – Centerfield Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i love the opening few lines. reminds you that good times are ahead. people often say that spring training is a sign that winter is over and that warmer weather is on its way. when the good times finally arrive, its cause to celebrate. "Well, beat the drum, and hold the phone The sun came out today" |
| Kosheen – Catch Lyrics | 19 years ago |

a friend of mine once told me that this song reminds her of the time she had sex in her ex-boyfriends car. of course, whenever i hear the song now, i think of her. |
| Lene Marlin – What If Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's about one-way love. you like them, but they show no signs of reciprocating. in a situation like this you think about what would happen if you said or did different things. you wonder what they'd do. all the scenarios are possible, so you spend all your time thinking "what if i did this?", "what if i said that?" - in short, what if? |

| John Denver – Annie's Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
supporters of sheffield united sing their own words to this tune. you fill up my senses like a gallon of magnet like a packet of woodbines like a good pinch of snuff like a night out in sheffield like a greasy chip butty oh sheffield united come thrill me again the "greasy chip butty song" as it is known, is all about the things that fill up your senses. magnet is beer, woodbines are cigarettes, snuff should be self explanatory. greasy chip butties are a very british mean, essentially a thick franch fries sandwich. incredibly unhealthy, but it makes you feel good, just like sheffield united. just like all the things that annie does for john, the things in this chant do for united fans. |

| Fountains of Wayne – The Girl I Can't Forget Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is all about getting drunk and not knowing what happened the following morning. you can remember you were with a hot girl but you cant recall what happened when you got home. thankfully, this guy gets a second chance. |
| Fountains of Wayne – Red Dragon Tattoo Lyrics | 19 years ago |
another really great tune. it's just about the things people are prepared to do to get with the girl they want. getting a tattoo, changing to look like the guy from korn etc, are examples of what people are often prepared to do win someone's affections. interestingly, the character starts out getting drunk. a sign that not being able to get the girl has driven him to drink. |

| Fountains of Wayne – All Kinds Of Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i disagree with kozmik's view, and would rank this as one of fow's best. its certainly one of my all-time faves, for any band. the qb in this song is the person i'd like top be. not a top class football player, but just the attributes he has. he never panics. he's not rushed. in today's world it's so easy to be stressed by work and life. this guy doesn't worry about the pressure of a situation. he can cope with it. i'd like to have things "start to make sense" to me some times. that knowledge that "no-one can touch him" is a wonderful trait to have. job security, happiness with a partner or whatever, just knowing that things won't go wrong must feel really good. not many people know that feeling - that's why it's a "strange" inner peace. the references to his family make several points. all the people who matter to him are enjoying his success. they are all watching and revelling in what he does. their support means a lot to him. he has a bride to be, signalling that his life is moving in the right direction. looking left and right and seeing an open man is very similar to how people often describe love at first sight. just glancing around the room and there, in a golden ray of light, is the love of your life. its how people usually want to fall in love. it's just like he planned. i know this isn't the meaning of the lyrics, but it has a parallel. having his family, fiancee and life sorted out, "the whole world is his tonight". he's achieved personal and professional nirvana. there is no better feeling. i wish i had all kinds of time. i don't enjoy being stressed. i'm not keen on pressure. i want that family support. i'd love to be this guy. |

| Fountains of Wayne – A Fine Day For A Parade Lyrics | 19 years ago |
to me this song offers the message that everything will be alright in the end. regardless of what's gone before today is a fine day for a parade. just like in mexican wine where "the sun still shines in the summertime", the fine day offers a bit of hope for the future. a fine day for a parade cheers me up with the knowledge that all is not lost, theres always something to be cheerful about. in this case, its the weather. |
