To me this song, especially the last verse (fallen angels at my feet..... ) is about someone comtemplating suicide, because of being bullied and hated at school, or where ever... Fallen angels at my feet (friends who have betrayed her) Whispered voices at my ear (rumers and gossip about her that she has heard bits and pieces of) Death before my eyes (comtemplating suicide, feeling it is her way out, the perfect solution to all her problems) Lying next to me, i fear (not sure what is being said here, maybe that death is so close that it in she is becoming afraid of it OR death is so close that it is like she is already buried, shut out from everything, feeling numb and hopeless..? no idea) She becons me, shall i give in (someone wanting her to kill herself, or some thing like that...hard to explain) upon my end, shall i begin forsaken all i've fallen for (when she dies shall she forget and leave behind all the horrible things that have happened, begin a new, happy life in her after-life) i rise to meet the end (rising to her death, ready to die) I can relate sooo well to this last part... what i have written here is the thoughts i have had in contemplating my own suicide, i was just so sick of the teasing and being hated, one girl even offered to pay me to slit my own wrists... |

| I definately think this song is about Hitler, perhaps he felt guilty after all he had done and then committed sucide to "make beauty stay" as Davey puts it.... there are links in the song to Jesus and God etc but i believe that with the salute and "Miss Murder" (a part of someone's concience, telling them to commit suicide) i'm sticking to my Hitler thery | |

| I definatly noticed that the chorus sounds like green day... Holiday i think, (not a big green day fan, srry) when ever my dad hears this song, he asks me "this is that green day song, right?" and i say "No dad, AFI, Miss Murder" and after me explaining to him a thousand times that this song isn't by green day, it's by AFI, he still doesn't get it....Shame on him... lol jk jk | |

I think the narrator is wishing there was a "perfect world" in which his memory would be deleted (make him forget his painful past) and this girl (or "goddess", as she is refered to)(whom cheated on him and he only found out afterwards) would have never existed therefor all the things she did to hurt him will be forgotten.. i think it's about time someone wrote a song about a general dream... To live in a perfect world....how many times have each of us thought.."if only the world were perfect?' or something like that? this song expresses a universal longing for something "perfect", watever ir may be, for the individual |
