i think that he is her past and even though she broke up with him and is running away, he's chasing her. I think he knew that he shouldn't be with her but he went against his better instincts because "something i've done, that i can't outrun" its cool. I can almost like picture him running after her but he can never get her back. sick song! |

| ok it's simple: the girl is cheating on him "8 seconds left in overtime, shes on YOUR mind". i think that the 8 seconds in overtime is just the fact that this "game" has gone into extra innings and whoever shes cheating with is thinking about her. and then in the first verse it sounds like his friends are either involved or just running away from what seems like drama to them and trying to stay out. abandoning him. He realizes that shes cheating and has to break up with her himself and throw it to the ground himself. but he still loves her even though she broke his heart. those are my ideas | |
