Am I the only one that just thinks this song is about sex with an ex? Maybe we are digging too deep here. He can't quite get over her and he just wants her so bad in every way. He wants to devour her. He's willing to give up sleep 'Goodbye to sleep' but knows it isnt honest 'fell asleep in the incline'. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it. It's a pretty sexy song |

Seriously guys, YourOwnDisaster you are a genius. I listened to lifetime before taking back sunday, and I like them both, I actually always loved the lyric 'next time that star shoots across the sky' it sounds so optimistic, only to be shot down, after i heard that adam (who is incredibly hot and cool) has the tattoo, i realized it would make an incredible tattoo.. look, we are all music fans here, what makes you guys (we are the scientists) any better than those who listen to taking back sunday, or dare i say greenday?! its all about hte music, share the love people gotta make money too, u might as well do it while doing something you love and ill have u know, that adam lazzara is a brilliant song writer |

ok this isnt www.howmuchthissongisaboutme.com its about the song lyrics, its really frusterating trying to find someone elses take on a song when all u read is i love this song, its all about me etc etc. nothing aggainst u guys, i mean we can all relate to this song in one way or another, but u really dont need to put it on the board, cuz honestly no one really cares if u think the same things. sorry for being so harsh, in other news. i think this song represents the bands inability to cope with fame. even though they arent extremely famous they still mean a lot to a lot of us kids out there, and that is a lot of pressure to have on you, especially if you arent feeling totally stable, and you start to wonder and question yourself. basically, i think it is about struggling with fame |

come on, suicide isnt a broken heart disease.. its a mental problem.. this song is about a change in a person, someone who was so full of life and ambition and they just let it all die, and settled for mediocracy it represents the death of the girls old life, settling for suburban boring life. its a symbol for many modern north americans, something better than just the 'middle' of society |

Alrighty guys. This song is pretty simple. ‘Boy’ (Anthony Green) and ‘Girl’ are friends. ‘Boy’ develops feelings for ‘Girl’. There is always some sort of feeling between them. Girl likes a different ‘Guy’ now, ‘Boy’ (Anthony) confesses his love to her. She doesn’t bite. She goes with this new ‘Guy’. Proof - Can we last through the winter? - (Symbolism of coldness, all things die in winter, including their friendship. Anthony is questioning whether or not it will last etc) ... Taking the wrong step, falling in front of me (the girl took the wrong step, and chose another guy, and feel for him, right in front of Anthony) This body is already aging; these nights are already long (meaning he is tired of waiting for her to be his) If I last through the winter, I swear to you now I wont call, Congratulations, go home now. (Pretty self explanatory, if he can last the winter without her then he never wants to see her again, and the ‘congratulations’ is basically reflecting the moment when she tells him that she’s with this other guy, he wants nothing more to do with her, thus asking her to leave) ... I never wanted a partner, I never loved you, now you are free to leave.. (Basically he is denying ever having those feelings for her, trying to hurt her like she hurt him) This heart is already frozen, I can’t remember the fall, and if I last through the winter I swear to you now I wont call (basically, he is already trying to give up, he cant remember the fall, meaning like the beginning, because it comes before winter, but also hints at when he initially fell for her) .. It must be buried under the heart, that makes this pace consistent (basically, he is saying, she must have some feelings for me in there somewhere, that is why our friendship and closeness has remained so tight and consistent) You’ll find it torn, that gate's been opened. and I’ve been wondering if you've been real with us. (She will find her heart torn, the opportunity has been presented to her, and if she doesn’t take him, he will wonder if their friendship was real at all) It’s too late. It’s that start stop and go, you've been dying for. (Essentially, its the wondering and the flirting that she craves, the ‘chase’) |

I haven't read everyones comments on this song, cuz there is A LOT. But i personally think its about the whole john nolan incident. (for those of you who don't know, john nolan.. formerly of taking back sunday.. slept with jesses girlfriend at the time.. these guys were best friends forever, until this happened) I think the first part of the song is directed at the girl "I am all you ever wanted, what all the other boys all promised, sorry i told (meaning sorry he has to put it that blunt), i just needed you to no. and when he says he thinks in decimals and dollars, he means that sorry he has to tell the whole world that shes basically a whore, but these kind of songs sell. he wants the song to start a craze because he wants her to always be reminded of what she did to him. .and every line is about who he doesnt want to write about anymore. the girl was obvioulsy keeping a secret from him. i believe that it was she slept with his best friend. so hes saying that she could have pretended that she didnt wanna get caught. i think the next few lines are about his band, and in comparisson to taking back sunday which was john nolans big pride and joy Oh, we're so c-c-c-c-c-controversial. we are entirely smooth. we admit to the truth, we are the best at what we do hte following lines i think are comparing himself to john, saying how he is better and these are the words you wish you wrote down. this is the way you wish your voice sounds, handsome and smart. oh my tongue's the only muscle on my body that works harder than my heart. and its all from watching tv, and from speeding up my breathing. wouldnt stop if i could. his clever lyrics that he sings over and over to remind himself of what he did, therefore spitting out negative things thus working his tongue harder than trying to heal his heart oh it hurts to be this good. you're holding on to your grudge. oh it hurts to always have to be honest with the one that you love. oh, so let it go.. what hes saying is that they have been best friends forever so he is mocking him by saying i bet its hard having to tell me this etc etc the chorus is basically about how everything is falling apart, his relationship and his closest friendship, i hope this makes sense to someone |
