After reading other peoples comments I’ve realised that "commercial" and "raw emotion" were the wrong words to use. What I was trying to imply was that I prefer the music silverchair was making back in the grunge days.. but it kinda didn’t turn out like that. I respect and fully understand that they have grown up... but I haven’t. I love neon ballroom and freakshow more mainly because I can relate to them now and they are just great songs. Silverchairs music has defiantly matured and I know that, so please people don’t snap at me for just expressing my opinion. I said earlier that straight lines is "commercial" I meant too radio friendly, poppy.. or whatever you want to call it. And by raw emotion I meant raw angry emotion. Maybe when I’m older ill truly understand the complete meaning to this song And I hope I do, because even though its boppy I can tell it has a strong meaning, anything silverchair makes has some amazing meaning. But right now.. I don’t just appreciate this kind of music as much as other types. But I will wait till young modern comes out, maybe it will surprise me.. And I really hope it does… |

Its catchy and good butt.. Wheres the anger? That raw emotion they used to flood the songs with. silverchair has become commercial. It’s not just about the music anymore. I know their growing as people and musicians and want to explore other genres.. and maybe aren’t necessarily ‘in too’ grunge anymore... and it kills me to say it... Butt mAAAANN... I can’t help but feel disappointed. Anyway, I find it hard to analyse these new songs. Even with diorama... I wasn’t compelled to sit down. and REALLY listen, pay attention and analyse the lyrics. All the songs are about "loving life" now. Which is fair enough because things are finally going good for Daniel. but you can do “happy” in different ways. Hhmm.. Im just hoping young modern has some songs for us.. old chair fans. |

Maybe if Daniel ate more meat.. HE WOULDNT HAVE BEEN SO SICK.. but then he wouldnt have written such amazing songs.. sooo im kinda stumped. i like meat but, yes i do think its wrong to slaughter heaps of animals and keep them in cages and stuff.. but why not buy free ranged chickens and other non-violenced animal products? even though will kill them for food, at least were not complete savages.. plus WE BREED the animals we eat.. so if we didnt breed them.. they WOULDNT BE ALIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE. its just the food chain.. comeonn people dont get all soft if you were out in the jungle... and there were lions everwhere.. do you think theyd think twice before taking a massive bite out of your arm?? people say because we are humans and on top of the food chain.. we should "know better" than to hurt poor inocent and defenceless animals.. if were sooo smart.. why do we have this problem in the first place? the answer is simple.. were just not as smart as some people like to think.. because if we were.. we wouldnt have ALL these problems to begin with. |
