Propagandhi – Resisting Tyrannical Government Lyrics 16 years ago
^Since I posted that I've read three books by an writer named Daniel Quinn (Ishmael; The Story of B; My Ishmael) and I've realized that when "every one has everything they need" it won't be under a socialist government. It won't be under any government, i.e. anarchy.
Even more powerful now.

Beautiful song. You can tell he's been victimized for his sexuality and now he's rising up and embracing it.

Awesome lyrics, awesome song. The ending (from "irony" on) really pushes me toward socialism. It's powerful.

Good Riddance – Shadows Of Defeat Lyrics 16 years ago
The song is about resisting conformity in the form of being confined to one place: "Woah, it's time to go!"
A great start to a great album.

Good Riddance – Saccharine Lyrics 16 years ago
To me, it's about how they've been beaten down so many times. They can't find solace anywhere because of the "lack of thought" and bullshit media surrounding them. There is no camaraderie because the revolutionaries and "brave ones" have all been snuffed out or have died for their cause. There's nothing left to do except "lie in a hedgerow" (bushes) and count the days, fighting the epidemic of apathy that seems to have infected everybody around them.
Really cool imagery in this song. It reminds me a lot of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

Good Riddance – There's No "I" In Team Lyrics 16 years ago
Love the line "we'll break before we bend." We'll die before we compromise our morals.
How do you create change when the good guys get the votes but the bad guys win?
"You can write your congressman/ and fuckin' spit in the wind for all the good it'll do you, friend."

Many of us have had this problem. She needs you, but you don't realize until it's too late. You try to help, but she pushes you away. Doesn't end well.

Anti-Flag – Antithetic To The Cure Lyrics 16 years ago
i don't really get what specifically this song is about.
when he says "So an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure/" he sounds like he disagrees with the saying.... why?

Rise Against – Injection Lyrics 17 years ago
cian: i think it's about the opposite. maybe he's sick and needs to stay in the hospital if he wants to live longer. but he's saying i'd rather be free for a short time than attached and cooped up in the hospital for the rest of my life.

thats a little specific tho. i think it can be applied to other situations

AFI – Kiss and Control Lyrics 17 years ago
riddle: he can do more than sex. straightedge people don't have promiscuous sex. that definately wouldn't be promiscuous.

my favorite part is after the spoken part when davey is screaming off beat over the other three's vocals

AFI – Affliction Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree with emogirl. i get the feeling that davey wants to be with whoever he's singing about so much, that even if she is just using him, he's still with her.
he kind of has a different attitude when he screams the lyrics: "Were you holding hands when my wrists bled?" it sounds like he's accusing her of cheating. his wrists bleeding signifying him realizing it and what her cheating does to him
