Thanks for posting that yep1. I get the impression from this song that the second thoughts the singer is having in the song is a result of seeing the 9/11 attacks on television. Watching such grotesque violence only makes his cause seem even more senseless. His mentor (and lover?) seems to disagree ("wrong about the feeling, wrong about the sound") with this conclusion, but agrees to put their plans on hold ("right to say we should stand down"). |

Yes... lots of songs are about relationships but... c'mon. x_x I didn't get the political message, but kudos to lilstacyQ for posting that snippit from Rolling Stone. :D As for the song itself, the religious imagery is fairly clear. The reference to the "kingdom of the good and true" sounds very much like a reference to heaven, and his uncertainty of having the right to live there seems to reflect a questioning of the common perception of the afterlife. The lyrics about not knowing what's right also show this moral dilemma. The cathedral being empty seems to communicate a feeling of abandonment by God. That's my take on it. |
