| A Perfect Circle – When The Levee Breaks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the day before the hurricane hit I was driving to my dad's house (my mom's house was a little close to the lake. I live on the North shore of the lake) I chose to listen to Tool's Flood. Although this would have been appropriate as well I think. | |

While the last peice on the disc "Resolution[all 3 parts]) is about the 3 final steps to enlightenment in particular, this song is more about the journey as a whole. But to be specific, it satisfies "World" on the tree of seperoth. The ratio in the golden spiral is found in many, many things in nature. The song hints that this ratio is the very key to understanding the world. All things go back to this magic number. Watch the Darron Aranofsky film "Pi" if you can. It deals with the same concepts. The song has a great deal of alchemical references as well, this fits with the magical, mystical theme of the entire album. |

Disposition. The first movement of the epic peice "Resolution" The third to final step on the road to enlightenment is clearly about death. Talking about the weather is something we use to discuss the current, temporary nature of our enviroment. The meaning of the song is simple: this life is temporary. The weather will change. Our physical existance is temporary and those clouds on the horizon will end it. But accepting that you will die is only one of the necessary steps to achieve enlightenment. So mention this to me, mention anything, and watch the weather change. |

| Tool – Triad Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Triad is the third movement of the epic peice "resolution" The third and final step on the road to enlightenment is the concept of the infinite. You might try to personify the infinite as God. Or as Tool has done, dont personify it and instead leave it in its abstract nature. The lack of lyrics reflects how insanely hard it is to express the infinite. It cannot be done with words, rational and unfeeling. It can only be hinted at with the music itself. The song is best heard live, where the song takes a radically different form. It slowly builds up.. from the drums, the bass, and finally a searing guitar with the epilady as the pick gets in. And it rises, slowly, like a machine struggling to start. The epifany is right there, at the tip of your nose. and suddenly as you approach and you think you understand, it falls away. For a minute we stuggle to stabalize ourselves and renew our journey for enlightenment. And then.. it explodes. Suddenly we experience the defining moment of our lives with the most glorious epifany imaginable. We understand. and in this now clearly divine revelation, we have ascended. God speaks in your ear, and you become part of the infinite yourself. Enlightenment has been achieved, and there is really no place left to go. Perhaps the next track, being the word of god, is tools tongue in cheek impression of what god would say to you once you could hear him. Resolution when played in its full glory, is a full 30 minutes long, as all three movements are considerably longer. |

| Tool – Reflection Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is not a song by itself really. It is the second movement of the epic "resolution" The second to last step on the road to enlightenment is about self. It constantly referenced Narcisus, who fell in love with his own reflection and pined away as he stared at himself. The song is about letting go of who you think you are. You must understand, you are nothing. The individual is an illusion. We are all one mind. We are just a great collective, we only imagine that we are seperate people. Give up the illusion. Crucify the ego and reject individualistic thinking. Embrace the collective. Become a waking part of the one organism: humanity. This message is somewhat upsetting to many. Especially in the west, we glorify the individual and reject collectivist thinking. This is why we advocate democracy so much, instead of more collective ideas like meritocratic fascism. I for one take the song's message to heart. I have given up individual thinking, and so should you. Together, as one mind, we can make the world a better place. I am ready for the Infinite(Triad) |

I think this song is about not letting your duties and responsibilites take precedence over your need to satisfy yourself. I think its about remembering yourself even in the most stressful and important of situations. Does anyone else thing the drug references are superficial and help add to the double meaning that most tool songs have? I dont thing this song was made with drugs in mind. |
