this song is so spectacular due to its stance on love. Jeffs regular songs, if I dare call them that, often present a sceptical view on love. A certain cynicism that is so addictive as we can all relate to the situations. This song is so pure and so believing in love, not concentrating on his usual cynicism, that it cant go wrong. ‘’the sea of fools has parted for us there's nothing in our way, my love’’….. this is the most subtly brilliant line he ever produced in my opinions Every time I hear this song I fall in love with jeff’s sincerity. We can but speculate on his experiences with love. We can tell its an emotion he is familiar with. Jeff said his songs came from dreams which often stemmed from real life. The obscurity he demonstrates in his music is romantic. Subordinate clauses dotted around verses which make no sense… However without them, the song would fall apart. I love this song. |

This song is beautiful. It epitomises what a loving relationship is worth… and what you shouldn’t settle for. Noone is worth your time if they mess you around. Leaving you in the balance, unsure of what is going on, If anything. The statement ‘’ Baby, you know I’m worth it’’ is the best thing anyone could ever wish for. At that point in time, where the revelation comes that they are worth it is the best moment of your life. What Alicia sings about here is what every woman needs at least one point in her life. To be held in a way that noone else could, to look into their eyes, to laugh together. Alicia describes the situations that a woman needs to feel this towards someone. Making love tenderly is a trillion times different than making love. The tenderness makes us believe that it is so real. Any men, learn by this song. Any women, don’t accept anything less than this song. |
