The first time I listened to this song I thought it was about making it in society. The part were he says "for the fire" I thougt it was for the "fall". I thought he was trying to say that if you don't go to college and go for a dream then get ready for one long road which is nothing but a downfall. I always felt the song was like a "hug" to those who are going to have to struggle in america. I thought they were one of the only bands that were saying "hey you need to go for your dreams. You aren't? ok then here is a hug." That sort of thing After I looked up the lyrics and read everyone's comments I can definitely see that I was wrong. I can see how the lightpost (government) and the ships(working people) work together in this song. Very interesting. Love the ending to this song. |
