Whoever submitted these lyrics is just... I mean, I understand most incorrect lyrics, but the phrase "even a stopped watch is right two times a day" should have hinted that the line was talking about the stopped clock on the wall...not the stucco...how is stucco "right"? |

Here is what I say. (The text above this box says 'what does this song mean to you?' so I will take that to heart.) I think, in reality, the song is about, at least in part, his band. He's been quoted saying that it was, and it even mentions a show and traveling and so on and so forth. BUT a song means something different to everyone. To me, this song was written for me and my best friend Jeff.I led a pretty awful life before I met him, and he completely reformed everything in my life. He turned me into someone completely different without even trying. It was one of those friendships you could make a nice movie montage out of, lots of those moments that deserve being documented. (this song reminds me a lot of lying with him on a rock in the middle of the water near a waterfall in the woods at night.) It was the perfect friendship. And of course, as with most boy/girl friends, there was always the question of something more. We had a large group of friends, and we all looked up to him. He was our leader and everyone could go to him with their problems. All of us were different from the moment he was our friend. He recently moved away, making this song relate that much more. (Making 'The Ocean' relate as well) It's so close, but we're so far away. |
