I will always love this song because years ago when I first discovered Hole at age 13 this song meant so much to me. Though is not about what my life was about then the lines I am the girl you know can't look you in the eye I am the girl you know so sick i cannot try I am the one you want can't look you in the eye I am the girl you know i lie and lie and lie Still meant what I wanted them to mean. Also the repetition of "I make my bed" its how we girls do it to ourselves. I moulded myself into whjo I was and had to learn to deal with it and finally overcome it. I hate to over think this song, I think that its one of those songs that has its meaning to the indivdual. I love this song so much. I like to think about it as just the simple truth about a first love. 'You are my sweetest downfall, I loved you first". Putting the samson and Delilah connections out of mind, its a sweet song about how a persons first love will always be their 'sweetest downfall'. Howver many loves a person may have in their life the first person they loved will always provoke a reaction. I think thats what this song about. |

Its most defintley we'll have Pheasant. I hear Pheasant anyway. I remember when I first heard this song, it really hit me as me and my best friend had just parted ways so to speak. I don't that this song is about the death of a lover. I think its simply the death of a relationship something that in its self requires a kind of mourning. Her difficulties are just in letting go of a realationship that has obviously shaped her. "I've loved you. So long I don't know who I'd be without" I think this is how anyone whos been with someone for a period of time feels. It's accepting that things will never quite be the same again. "We'll be strangers who were lovers I'll recover It's so weird how time goes on" I love this song and all of Emmy Lees songs mainly because it speaks of things that all of us do and the reactions are the way that all of us react. Anyway im more than likley talking nonsense now. |

Personally i think that songs mean different things to different people, and this is how we are able to relate to songs. I think that a few Bright Eyes songs are relating to eating disorders particuarly bullimia. Infact i listen to this song reguraly when im feeling down about my own food related probelms |
