This song, to me, is talking about the commercialism and plain monotony of hip hop and rap right now. It used to be diverse and interesting and REAL, but now it's all prepackaged mass-produced garbage.
He's also talking about a hip hop revolution. He's trying to tell people that things need to change... Unfortunately, he's a lone soldier against the big corporations. We need to get more people behind this. Stop buying the stuff, turn off the TV and radio when it comes on, support real artists, and you'll see a change. The reason why more people aren't is because they haven't seen anything but the bad... We need to open their eyes, people. Show them what music really is. |

k-os is one of my FAVOURITE artists, because he is literate, TALENTED, and dynamic. This is GREAT for someone like me, because I like almost all genres, but it's difficult to find someone who has talent for music or songwriting in even ONE of the genres with the current musical trends. Mmkay, I'm gonna put how this ties to V's inner conflict, just because that's what this song always reminds me of.
V's waiting for Evey to return to him before the 5th. He's second-guessing whether he should go through with it, because he knows he's going to die. He doesn't want to die yet, because he found someone he loves. But, he's convincing himself that he needs to go through with it ("What comes is better than what came before"). So, he's just wishing that she'll come through with her promise, and come to see him one last time before he dies.
On a personal note, this song reminds me of a mutual break-up. They decided that the situation wasn't good for a relationship, and they should hold off on being together. But, the narrarator is wondering if it was the right thing, and if they're really gonna get together after all. |

I love this song... it reminds me so much of my new friend.
He recommended a few songs to me, and I was shocked at how sad all of them were. He seems like such a peppy guy, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that he had reason to be sad. (I'm probably his only friend.)
He reccomended Oasis to me, and I downloaded all the songs I could. This one stood out the most to me of all the songs I downloaded. I feel like this is my message to him.
I hope he listens to this song, and takes heed. I'm so scared of him commiting suicide, even though he doesn't outwardly seem suicidal. In these last few weeks that I've really gotten to know him, it seems more and more like a likelihood.
So, this song is sort of a bittersweet thing for me. |

I think this song is talking about unrequited love... one big crazy love triangle. The narrarator is in love with someone, but that someone is involved with someone else. The narrarator thinks that if he could just tell the person he loves that he loves them, they could be his, but he also feels like he needs to just move on. |

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG. This is my favourite song. EVER.
What I love about this song is that... well, I won't lie, one of the things I love about this is that it works well to narrarate my favourite fictional couples. Another thing that I love is simply the story. It's so cute. The boy loves the girl and never wants to let her go, but she has to leave, even though she (albeit begrudgingly) has a soft spot for him, too.
One of my favourite lines is 'Don't you feed me lines about some idealistic future/Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures'. The reason I love it so much is that it not only displays her cold side, but also her sympathetic side. Also, just the fact that she tells him to stop feeding her cheesy lines is great. |

What I like about this song is that for those non-Christian folk like myself, we don't have to hear direct references to God. Not that I hate Christianity, of course. It'd be the same as hearing a song that goes 'ALLAH ROCKS!'
