I find this album difficult but overwhelmingly brilliant and brave. This song is an excellent finisher. The entire album resonated with me much like Closer or Kid A did. It takes a few more listen-throughs to become better accustomed with the mood and textures, but it's well worth it. |

i can't help but derive sarcasm from much of Sufjan's work. I adore this album and his later ones. He's musically brilliant and is voice is lovely, but the lyrics to this song are frightening. The spiraling effect in the middle of the song makes me think he's winking though this one, as to say "calm down, i'm kidding"...or perhaps he's just a loony religious nut. Regardless, it sounds great. |
