I've changed my mind a number of times about the meaning of this song, but at last I've concluded that the person whose words these are is going to die and the woman he's writing it for is his spouse and IS dead. "Many's the time I ran with you down The rainy roads of our old town Many the lives we lived in each day And buried altogether" ---maybe they will be buried together "Bedshaped And legs of stone" --- a tombstone is bedshaped "And up we'll go In white light I don't think so" ---maybe he doesn't think they'll go to heaven "But what do I know What do I know? I know I know you think I'm holding you down And I've fallen by the wayside now" --maybe his life went to hell after she died - perhaps he lost faith and feels he'll keep her out of heaven if she waits for him. ?? I liked it better when I didn't conclude this, but what else could be Bedshaped Legs Of Stone??? Beautiful song though. Wish they'd do a commentary on what it IS about. |

Okie Dokie, I love this song. Now as far as it's meaning, hmm, well, here's my opinion. " I don’t know why You want to follow me tonight" I think the writer of the song went astray and was cheating on his girlfriend and she tailed him. "When the rest of the world With whom I’ve crossed and I’ve quarreled Let’s me down so For a thousand reasons that I know To share forever the unrest With all the demons I possess Beneath the silver moon" It sounds like he's at odds with many people in his life, and he realizes it's his fault. I don't see the 'silver moon' as being drugs - like some posters before mentioned, but rather that he is speaking in literal terms, as in the moon itself. Did you ever stand outside at night and just look up at the sky and feel so small and insignificant? I think that's what he's feeling. "Maybe you were right But baby I was lonely I don’t want to fight I’m tired of being sorry" Saying he was lonely - it goes back to my comment about cheating. . .maybe he was with a hooker? "Chandler and Van Nuys With all the vampires and their brides We’re all bloodless and blind And longing for a life Beyond the silver moon" So it sounds like he's in the San Fernando Valley in California...I know Van Nuys is a town, but think theres also a Van Nuys Blvd....as well as Chandler Blvd...maybe they intersect....if so, it's possible that this is where she followed him to or from and he's referring to the 'vampires and their brides' in reference to pimps and prostitutes. Then the 'bloodless and blind' would be the lack of a real life that those people would have. . .they work the night, like a vampire would. "Maybe you were right But baby I was lonely I don’t want to fight I’m tired of being sorry I’m standing in the street Crying out for you No one sees me But the silver moon" Sounds like she (his girlfriend) gave him hell, and drove off and he was literally calling out trying to get her to come back. "So far away – so outer space I’ve trashed myself – I’ve lost my way I’ve got to get to you" I think he's totally disgusted with himself and finally waking up and realizing that he needs her. Whatever the intended meaning, it has a great beat. I wish I lived in California, I know they perform out there and would love to see them, but it's way too far to travel there from the east coast just for a couple of hours. They've written some really cool songs, I hope they find someone to promote them into a nationwide tour. |

| I think the song is about a guy who has a platonic friendship with a girl he's really hung up on. As her friend, he sees her go through some bad relationships and getting hurt, but either she obviously doesn't feel the same way about him - no romantic feelings, or he's afraid to let her know he wants to change the course of their relationship....whichever - it's making him crazy - he worries that if he takes the plunge and lets her know how he feels and she isn't interested it will kill their friendship and that is what he can't bear to think about. | |

One of the most beautiful love ballads of all time. Very underplayed. It reminds me of when I was on the road a lot and there was someone very special to me that I could never manage to hook up with and sadly, never did. Used to cry myself to sleep hearing this one. Still brings a tear...lol |

There's nothing to analyze, it means what it says, theyre's no himming and hawwing, it's a fuck song. Personally, I like the beat, his voice ain't bad and I made sure it got on my iPod... It's one of those, either you like it or you don't songs. |

Ya know, we can go back and forth about what it may or may not mean, but in the end, to me, it's a song with a heck of a good beat. Great song to run to, drive to, clean the house to, or do the deed to. The only thing that I disagree with theory wise is that it's about gay sex. |

OK, I could be wrong, but here's my interpetation of the song...I don't think it's about one particular thing, I think Scott is talking about a particular time in his life. "There goes Elvis kicking up a landslide Close shave now he's back on the flipside" Could he be referring to Elvis Stojko kickboxing? Then the close shave...flipside....part meaning back on ice? Maybe they're friends??? "Stretch taxi gonna fly me to the Hollywood Bowl" The Hollywood Bowl is an Ampitheatre, so he's going to a concert...either as a spectator, or as a performer. "It's a bitch Jack when you need some feedback You hang while they hold you and you never get the ring back" I think "Jack" - is him talking to whoever is listening - like saying 'dude' 'pal' whatever...and he's saying waiting sucks...he's waiting to hear news...possibly about his career? Management/agent/whoever says they'll return a call and they don't... But I like you best when you're down with the rest of us Hmmmm....maybe he put it in cause it sounded good...or maybe he has a professional as well as a personal relationship with whomever he is waiting to hear from and they show two sides...one hanging out as friends - another handling business. I just want to move ahead I just want to free myself - but it's a struggle Maybe move ahead with a career - or personal relationship Free himself of whatever bs baggage he's carrying...and we all know that's tough...'specially when you've been screwed over...
