I always saw the chorus as more of a jab at the adults and their ignorance towards teenagers. It's so stereotypically sarcastic. Good over all analysis. |

| Actually I always thought the lyrics were more sarcastic, and that they were poking fun at adults and their ignorance towards teenagers, as well as teenagers that live up to their stereotypes. Either way I LOVE this song. | |

| Personally, I believe this song tackles self mutilation and possibly suicide. | |

In quiffporn's defense, haven't any of you heard of freedom of speech? Obviously some of you haven't. Quiffporn is very much entitled to his own opinion, whether it contradicts your's or not. I can't really fathom why he's posting in here to begin with mind you, but all the same, he has the right to do so. So what gives any of you the right to rip him apart for his thoughts? By doing so, it only proves how narrowminded some of you are. It's just a song guys, no need to lose your heads over it. This place is open for discussion; negative or positive. |

What goes around comes around! This song rocks! Rarely do males speak out against date rape, so I've gotta give the band credit for that. |

Well, I assime Villie is speaking of a female, considering he makes a comment on how beautiful he/she is. I'll admit, I took the lyrics more literally. I suppose the person the singer is referring to could be on the verge of self destruction as well. Your theory makes sense. |

Well, first off I love this song because the first word of the title is identical to my name. Heh. :D But of course I also love the beat to it and such. I can't really explain it, I just love this song lol (even though I've grown alittle tired of it, considering I've overplayed it these past few months) As for what the song is about though, I honestly have no clue. I read somewhere that DC is supposed to resemble every women he's ever dated through one character. I've also read that Dani California is merely reference to the state of California though. Personally, I think the song is alot simpler then that. They are talking about a roughneck by the name of Dani California. Call me a simpleton, but that's what I think. Judging by the variety of different opinions regarding this song though, I don't really know what to think. Like many others, Dani California leaves me stumped. :/ |

I just love the way you're losing your life I just love the way you're running out of life By these two lines here, it seems to me that he is watching someone who is on the brink of death and takes joy in watching that person suffer, as he implies that he "loves the way she's running out of life." I don't know about you, but it sounds like he's serenading a dead corpse to me. (white skin, touch cold as ice..)Maybe he's into necrophilia? LoL Eh, what can I say. Most of HIM's songs are pretty straightforward, but this song has me stumped. Any ideas? :/ |

Wtf, is this a chatroom or what? Quite the conversation you guys have going; completely irrelevant mind you, but amusing nonetheless. :D Anyway, to get us on topic (or somewhat)..I'm inlove with this band! HIM is definately on my top list. Aside from a few of their screw ups, I pretty much adore every song performed by this band. However, I'm not so sure about this song. (I've seen the video to GWTS though and I've gotta say, Ville is the sexiest man alive!) Before I read the lyrics, I never really paid any attention to what the song meant, but now that I've actually viewed the lyrics firsthand I see it as quite sadistic. (Still love Ville though. |
