Dream-like Dream-like ... at first i thought that this song was about someone decieving themselves and that if that person continues to believe that they are in love then they will just end up being really lonely because there is really nothing there but now i'm starting to wonder if maybe it's a message to the fans or something, like davey saying that too many people are convinced that his songs are just for them and that he's singing just to them in the crowd and that is clearly not the case, so he's saying that some fans need to let go and realise that he isn't really singing just to/for them, which is sort of the same concept only on a larger scale really... but i could be wrong, that's just how i'm interpreting it... |

i agree with can't take this... i believe that this song is all about modern day society telling you who you are and what is right and what is normal and everything all at once, and so you lose yourself in the whole shuffle of it all and don't know who you are anymore, and he's telling everyone to go back to the way you were, go back to who you really are, before you let society change you and mold you into what is "normal" or expected... i like it, it's an awesome song, i even love the name, "atrophy" meaning 'wasting away' but it's almost like 'a trophy', like what society tries to make you, into it's own little trophy if you let them win, if you yourself waste away and become it's slave... but, yeah... that's what i think at least |

| to me, this song is about telling a girl that, she may not fit into the stereotypical standards of the world, but that she doesn't need to, and even though it's hard at the moment, she'll make it and prove to everyone that you don't have to meet the world's standards, you don't have to fit, that being different is a great thing and that it will actually just make her stand out all the more when she does finally make it in the world, it's really inspiring, i love it | |

i love this song, i find it just beautiful, to me it means that he doesn't want help from anyone, he won't face the fact that there was any greater power or anything like that helping him through the hard times in his life, it's like he doesn't want to believe that it was so hard and that he had help along the way, like he needs to believe that he was on his own because he felt so alone, he felt like he had done everything on his own and he was proud of his strength and felt like he had made it, and it was as though religion and a greater power were trying to take that away from him with things like "when there was only one set of footprints in the sand, i was carrying you"... i love it, i think of it as, "i've made it and no one can take that away from me, i did it all by myself and no one helped me" and not wanting to admit that there was more to it than that... it's really spoken to me a lot recently... but that's just what i think |
