Suede – Animal Nitrate Lyrics 19 years ago
Sorry guys, but you are ALL wrong, and I have the Brett Anderson interview to prove it! This song is actually about a little girl who was raped by her own father. Wanna know the sick part? According to Brett when she turns 21, she finds out that she liked the abuse, she learns that her father turned her on. Twisted right? This is only the begining.

"Like his dad you know that he's had
Animal nitrate in mind."

Is very well known that abusive parents makes abusive parents. A man who was probably abuse by his father, later on abuse his daughter.

"Oh in your council home he jumped on your bones
Now you're taking it time after time"

Apperently sex wasn't enough, he also beat her and now she's is trying to forget about that.

"Oh it turns you on, on, now he has gone
Oh what turns you on now your animal's gone?"

Her father was an animal, no doubt about that, but when she beggins to live her her life she discover that she likes that "animal sex". That the man she thougt was a monster her entire life is the man she wants.

"Well he said he'd show you his bed
And the delights of the chemical smile"

He drugged her than raped her. Sick...

"So in your broken home he broke all your bones
Now you're taking it time after time

Oh it turns you on, on, now he has gone
Oh what turns you on now your animal's gone?"

Sick, sick sick...

"What does it take to turn you on, on,
Now he has gone?
Now you're over 21?
Now your animal's gone?
...animal, he was animal, an animal."

When she finally becomes an adult, she runs away, break free from her twisted childhood and tries to have a normal life. The thing is, normal boys don't turn her on. "What dos it take to turn you on" seems to be the question.

Now, about the video:

The fat lady half naked and the man dressd up as a pig? The tabu about sex and the (sometimes) weird stuff that comes along was always a big thing in the U.K. and let's face it, Brett Anderson loves to shock people... Well, he certainly did that... He wanted to show that when it comes to sex, everybody has a secret fantasy, and it's okey to explore that (with a consenting adult, of course).

*If I made a lot of mistakes, sorry! I'm From Brazil and I'm not quite the writter. Thanks. :-)

Suede – So Young Lyrics 19 years ago
The piano in this song is just amazing! I already knew about the "chasing the dragon" thing, but the reference to cocaine I didn't know. I think is beautiful and tragic the way he sees youth: "So young, and so gone..."
