| Flobots – There's A War Going On For Your Mind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| An obvious shout out to a huge influence of theirs, the once great Gil Scott-Heron. The war for our minds is being fought by the media, corporations, and the government. The media shoves it down your throat, corporations use their existing power, and the government just lies. | |
| Dire Straits – Telegraph Road Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I live where Telegraph ends (Waterford), but most people think it ends in Pontiac. Pontiac is actually the place being referenced. The man in the song walks from Detroit to Pontiac (it is thirty miles from Detroit, thus the "Walking thirty miles with a sack on his back"). However, Flint is pretty much the same place as Pontiac, with the exact same story (auto industry booms, ton of people move here for jobs, foreign auto market takes a stand, ton of people loose jobs, everyone there becomes poor). | |
| Smoosh – Massive Cure Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Yeah, she was 11-12ish when she wrote this (released when she was 12 and her sister, the drummer, was 10). I agree whole heartedly with jellypop's assessment, Especially considering the indie roots of this duo. "It's just a place where you can hide away and find a way You can recover from whatever you have done wrong" Meaning you can go with a major label and make more cash to pay the bills. "You'll never be discovered, never have to show yourself And you can hide till whatever time you want to" As with all major record labels, the finished product is completely at the hands of the company, not the band. They can make you sing whatever the hell they want depending on the type of contract. However, it is my belief that it is just inexperience speaking when she mentions "you can hide till whatever time you want to" because of unbreakable record contracts. Not a big fan of the song personally, or the lyrics of She Like Electric in general because of the lack of dimension, but that is just me being a pretentious snob lol. |

| Radiohead – Paperbag Writer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I believe the title represents the song as a continuation of the song by the Beatles. The writer "makes a million overnight" and he is so excited that he stops writing and enjoys the success. While still on this high, he looses all attention that was on himself. Scratch all of that. He is so surprised by his success that he becomes afraid and locks everyone else out of his life. Scratch that too. I'm gonna recomment after I analyze Paperback writer. |

Lyrically, this is my favorite Beatles song. Oh, btw, the guy that said go eagles was refering to the previous posters name. |

| Coldplay – Clocks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think its about him being afraid to propose to a girl, and she refuses to stay with him if he can't commit. | |
| Radiohead – Talk Show Host Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is easily my favorite song. Especially the live version from Eurockennes. I've taken it to mean a couple of things. My first thought is that it is about an antisocial guy that gets approached by a girl, but I connot bring myself to believe that. I truly think that it is about a guy who is so good at something that it bores the hell out of him, and he finally meets his match. He is finally overpowered in whatever he does, and is happy to be at peace. That or I just watch wayyyy to many Samurai movies. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The title Disarm is completely justified by the Billy quote about the subject matter. His parents treated him with hate, but, despite all of the abuse he recieved from his father, he made a beautiful song to show his "tender feelings". | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Maggie's Farm (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree with all comments made by Pretentious arse. | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Guerrilla Radio Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil? The media is controlled by the rich, whose investments include oil See: Bush family -Sound off Mumia guan be free Who gottem yo check the federal file All you pen devils know the trial was vile The Mumia Abu-Jabar trial was rigged through coercion among other things All the things that need to be explained.
