=O i can't believe no one's commented on this yet! it's such an amazing song! don't know why, but the title really reminds me of the smiths... just sounds like the kind of thing morrissey would say. anyway, yeah, basically, i figured it was about girls who put out too much and she's telling them they don't need to... or something to that effect. but when i first heard it i did imagine it being a long distance relationship.. which i suppose it still could be if it's a man who wrote it and kate jackson singing it. but it's so so so catchy, i hear it in the morning and end up whistling it all day ;) |

the beginning bit really really creeps me out. sounds like a really little girl singing or something, and for some reason... that scares me. It's hard enough getting someone to like you And then you find out that they're nothing like you And it's been a waste of time. pretty much sums up every 'relationship' i've had... its a great song, but the talking bits really do give me the creeps! |

pete plays this at the end of the "who the f**k is pete doherty" documentary and he sings the first line ("how you annoy me") and says "wolfy wrote that about me, that's nice, innit?" ... as much as i hate wolfman, he is a great poet, specially songs like 'for lovers'. makes a lot of sense though, with the "walking like a cyclone"... when he's realising that he's the one destroying things, including himself. *sigh* |

Mistake my plastic beads for pearls (In a world of innocence) is one of my favourite lines ever... and it has that magical libs touch where they can write a really sweet line like 'I will sing you lullabies in all your dreams' and in a matter of seconds turn it into something sordid ("I’ve seen those dirty magazines and I got my cheap thrills") perfection. |
