To me, I see a maternal figure speaking to a younger person. The younger person has had a bad experience in the world, and the singer is trying to comfort them. I believe the farewell in question is the farewell of the old and happy personality for the entrance of the world-weary and grave new one. Sharon is kind of singing as a guardian angel, which is fitting for her beautiful vocals. It could also be about a lover "Embrace" "By my side" but Sharon is comforting them. Beautiful song. =] |

I love this song, the melody is heartfelt, and the vocals are great too. I see this song as a deep confession of a fucked up person's love for another, and the clarity of their vision when "clean" from all the other crap. The other person in the relationship has obviously been through hell and back but have stuck with the other because of the mutual love, whatever happens. Holds with my theory that true love never dies. Ahhh. |

Bravo Lici -applauds- I always though of this song as narrating an intensely obsessive love, "I'll go anywhere with you" and "Stay with me" The narrator is describing her feelings to the person she's obsessed/ in love with, and is desperate to gain the upper hand. Could be kinda kinky with the line about the chains and "I'll make you beg for more" too =P All in all, amazing song. |
