First of all, this band is my alltime favorite. I love them sooo much. I saw them live, and I even got to feel the singer, Ryan Zimmerman up. He has a nice ass, lol Anyway. This song is about a gril who's mad some bad decisions in life. She has hit rock bottom, and doesn't know how to get out of it. Hence the name, "Outside of This" Shes been broken down, abused, and can't get her life back together. She finally crashed. She is searching for a person who will see behind her mask, someone who can pick her up, love her, and fix this mess she has made. She finally gives up completely, and her mask has been thrown out. Someone reaches out, feels her pain, and trys to help her. The rest is unknown, as the song ends. |

This song is about his resent to the music industry. Record companies are horrible to their musicians. They take their music, change it, and make the people be different than who they are. The record company is raping him of his music and is making it into their song. "I'm not the only one" This refers to the fact that hes not the only one they do it to. "hate me, do it again" This is about the fact that they don't appreciate his company, but they are making money, so it doesn't matter. They complain and make threats to manipulate him into their wishes. They don't stop, and continue to do it. They let him know whats inside, and he kiss' their sores. I think the sores as used to represent their holes in their record deals; the mistakes they have made, and hes got to fix them. Stink and burn. They stink of theft. They take his stuff, and twist it. The it is dropped, burnt away. " It's better to burn out, than fade away," a quote he used from another artist, describes this well. I have another opinion about this too. It could be about Courtney, and how she used him for things. Raped him of his life, his kid, and talents. That bitch was awful, and he put up wiith a lot of shit from here. She comes back to him, pretended to be concerned. Shes not concerned, she wants his money, the kid, time, drugs, and anything that will make her feel better about herself. She was controlling, and very selfish Thats my thoughts... |

I think hes trying to use the match and lighter thing as an analogy for how long their relationship was mutual. He was a match, he burned out, and shes tired of him. To him, shes still alive, as lighters last more than matches. Hes bright, but shes much brighter. He thinks she is too good for him. He finally excepts that they aren't going to work. He doesn't fit in with mexico, and there is nothing for him there. He decides to cross the border, its his only chance at becoming a new man. |
