Josh Ritter – Bone Of Song Lyrics 19 years ago
You're right on. It's a great story about something mytical (a muse, as abovementioned)

Ben Folds – Fred Jones Pt. 2 Lyrics 19 years ago
Anyone read the book or seen the movie "About Schmidt"? Same kind of feeling of desparation for the character, but it's realistic. It's very common. Fred Jones in the beginning is retiring from his job of 25 years only to be imediately replaced and forgotten at work. (Ala the first 5 minutes of the movie "about schmidt"). As a retired and tired old man, he doesn't know what to do with himself. All of the sudden he has time but nothing to do with it. All he's known for the last 25 years is his job, now he doesn't have it and with the loss of his job, he has in a round about way lost part of his identity.

Nada Surf – Comes a Time Lyrics 19 years ago
dyc6ko, I take it you havn't seen "Paris, Texas" the movie (as mentioned in the final lines). In a nutshell, it's about a man who has lost his identity (and left his family), but slowly remembers who he is through the movie. However, the song looks like it might be merely influenced by the movie, not about it. My opinion: Relationships get stale sometimes. Sometimes you just wake up next to someone you went to bed loving and the feelings just aren't there anymore. In this respect, it could also refer to someone in this situation (stale relationship) cheating on the other "one of us has gone where they never should...how long can you
keep circling round?
til she found out."

You guys are thinking too hard about this stuff.

Tom Waits – Tom Traubert's Blues (Four Sheets to the Wind in Copenhagen) Lyrics 19 years ago
matilda = swag, waltzing = moving...... when you're walking about, your backpack moves too and fro, just like waltzing. Great song, I read on a different site it's about some night in Copenhagen when Waits was drunk and stumbling about and whatnot. It had bunches of quotes from him of what he said prior to singing the song... usually pretty vague. I don't think it is a metaphor for self destruction. I think whoever thinks that is an idiot.

Colin Hay – Beautiful World Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is pretty self explanitory what it's meaning is. Just a note: the breakers are white because of bird shit.

Colin Hay – I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't think this song is about a break-up at all. I think it's about Maggie (anyone familiar with the tune?). It makes pretty clear sense to me. Break-ups are painful, yes, but can you imagine your "true love" commiting suicide?
