Kermit the Frog – Rainbow Connection Lyrics 14 years ago
Kermit is saying he doesn't believe in believing. That others who do are wrong because dreams don't really come true. But he's saying this more to himself than to anyone else. He's trying to convince himself not to wish for something more, because he has in the past and was left disappointed and sad.

But the more he tries to protest, the less he can. In the end the power to dream is too great, and even if it leaves him hurt again in the end, he has to keep believing in a better tomorrow. He has to believe he has a place in this world and that he'll find it.

I love this song because we've all been there. We all know what it's like to want to give up hope, but we can't. Kermit is very much an Every Man, or frog...as the case may be.

Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová – Once Lyrics 17 years ago
When I saw The Swell Season in concert, Glen said something about the sirens and how your heart hears them calling and the brain says "Don't! There are rocks!" but the heart says "Fuck the rocks!" And that sometimes the brain is right, but sometimes it isn't.

Talking Heads – Wild Wild Life Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is all-around fun song that I believe was originally done to mock pop music at the time. However, it became a big hit instead.

Talking Heads – Sugar on My Tongue Lyrics 19 years ago
The drug PCP is refered to as sugar and can be ingested orally....

So this song being about drugs is highly possible.

Talking Heads – Road To Nowhere Lyrics 19 years ago
I do believe this song is about oblivion and the road of life we're on until we die.

I wouldn't say it's all negative, though. Death is apart of life, and the best we can do is accept it. Oblivion is there, but "it's all right, baby, it's all right". We can appreciate what we have along the way...when "time is on our side".

Talking Heads – Sax & Violins Lyrics 19 years ago
I can't help but think this song is supposed to betray how the world seems for a young adult. Exploring the good and bad of love, a rebelious "criminal" who's never really done anything wrong...enjoying being ignorant to the pain of life. But soon a net will break their fall, they'll grow up and reality will set in.

Talking Heads – Blind Lyrics 19 years ago
When I hear this song I see a picture of some kind of figurehead who has been killed the night before by someone who opposed their views and thought they were doing justice by killing the figurehead. But what kind of solution is that? A blind way of thinking.
People ride past the still alive but dying body of the figurehead on the street and figure nothing can be done now. Blind thinking.
People are looking for the killer, but the only witness - the girl in the window - won't speak out of fear for her own life. More blind thought.

So what the hell have we all become? So blind to everything? The signs are lost.

Talking Heads – (Nothing But) Flowers Lyrics 19 years ago
A very environmental song with a definant ironic twist.
Like with what ohpioneer has said, we always want more and an Eden-like world would never be enough.
We'll up destroying ourselves and not having a clue as to what to afterwards.

And oh how I love the part about the billboard....

Talking Heads – Air Lyrics 19 years ago
To me, the song is about people harming the environment and the air around us.
With the holes in the ozone layer, the sun can come through and damage our skin.
We as people tend to simply ignore these problems (Some people say not to worry about the air), and pretty soon we won't have the air we need anymore (Some people never had experience with air).

Talking Heads – Once In A Lifetime Lyrics 19 years ago
For me, the water in the this song represents life.
Life is short, and passes by quickly without our realizing it.
Suddenly we find ourselves as an adult, wondering how we got there.
Life goes by again, quickly as ever, like you're drowning and unaware.
Soon you're old, your wife is old, your house is broken down and you ask how did you get here?
You die into the silent water and sink back into the earth as new life is born elsewhere. Here, you question life and what it all means and are then reborn into new life. Same as it ever was.

Water is a very key feature in the song. It represents time, it represents death and rebirth all at once.

At least to me, anyway!
