The Cranberries – Zombie Lyrics 17 years ago
To me, this song was always about post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Used – Handsome Awkward Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is obviously about Gerard Way. As you can see, the totally butcher him with the line "hey, are you okay, you look pretty low, very handsome awkward
do you feel okay, you look pretty low, very handsome awkward" it's a spinoff of My Chemical Romance's song I'm Not Okay.

AFI – Bleed Black Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is about how reincarnation and death. Here is why I think this.

"I know what died that night, it can never be brought back to life
Once again, I know
I know I died that night and I'll never be brought back to life
Once again, I know"

He knows that he will never go to some afterlife or peaceful haven.

"I'm hovering throughout time, I crumble in these days"

Some people say that your life flashes through your eyes before you die. If he is "hovering throughout time" then he is overlooking his memories, in my opinion. And he crumbles simply means he is dying.

"(If you listen) Listen, listen
(Listen close) Beat by beat
(You can hear when the heart stops) I saved the pieces
(When it broke) And ground them all to dust"

This I believe is describing cremation. I know that when you are cremated you are burned. But this sounds very similar to cremation. Saving the pieces..returning them to familes etc.

Now keep in mind (*cough*daveyhavokisgod*cough*)

That the music they write can be about whatever your view of it is. This was said by Davey Havok and the rest of the band.

AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is about celebrity suicide. I think.

"With just a look they shook. AND HEAVENS BOWED BEFORE HIM"

"AND HOW HIS CHILDREN CRY HE LEFT US ALL BEHIND"

Forgetting about children when away at award ceremonies making movies. music videos etc.

AFI – God Called In Sick Today Lyrics 19 years ago
I believe that this song is a conflict between Davey and his parents. Now, Davey's family was Roman Catholic.

"Let's admire the pattern forming.
Murderous filigree.
I'm caught in the twisting of the vine"

When it says "I'm caught in the twisting of the vine"
Imagine two vines one his mother, one his father. And Davey is in the middle of all this bickering about him.
Now the "pattern forming" is about the average person raised as a christian becoming a christian and passing it on to their kids.

"I can't help my laughter as she cries.
My soul brings tears to angelic eyes. "

"I can't help my laughter as she cries"
Means he can't believe his mother would go so far to believe something that he obviously thinks is bullshit.

"My soul brings tears to angelic eyes."
Believers in god who loved Davey dislike what he has become.

"lets ammend the classic story"

Lets stop the classic story of a good old christian boy raising good old christian kids.

"I'll let animosity unwind"
I will let you know how much I hate this.

"Steal away the darkened pages, hidden so shamefully.
I'll still feel the violence of the lines. "

"Steal away the darkened pages, hidden so shamefully."

That is the truth. Steal away the darkened pages hidden so shamefully obviously means. Learn the truth that was hidden by your minister, parents, etc.

"And miles away my mother cries"

pretty self-explanatory.

"Omnipotence, nurturing malevolence."

The unlimited power of god wishing ill-will to people (send them to hell)

Anyway this is what I feel the song is about.
