Everyone keeps saying this song is about some sort of relationship, but I have a different theory. I think he is talking about a place he used to go to as a kid with a close friend to relax or play and now he is an adult, hence the "I'm getting old..." part. Now he is in the place he was at as a kid again and is wondering where the time went, "Oh simple thing, where have you gone?"
