| Fall Out Boy – What a Catch, Donnie Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song scares me. It feels kind of like a farewell. It feels like the end of Fall Out Boy. I didn't realize that there were other people singing, at first. I still can't pick out Travi's voice, even though I know which line he sings. It's almost like they're all trying to sing like Patrick. Costello, the most different, just sounded like a very stuffy, mid-sobbing Patrick. So, onto explanation. The most common dictionary definition of "flack" is someone who provides publicity. This whole album seems like it's about regret, and wanting to do life over without being swallowed up by fame. With this line, it undermines the whole album in a very important way. It's like saying "well, here's what I said, and I wish I could mean it, but I'm too weak." Patrick sings about being fine "'til the hospital or American Embassy." I'm thinking this line refers to being sick at heart, including homesickness, ergo the "American Embassy." While talking about God and the world ending, it's kind of bitter, it seems. I'm not sure of the relevance, but it's a great line. The second most important part of the song is the chorus. The chorus is about feeling inferior and feeling like a backstabber. "Troubled thoughts and a self-esteem to match," and "I'm the one who charmed the one who gave up on you." The most important part, though, I think, is when they have the brief cameos from other singers. It's about how music, namely theirs, is more than just music. It's something universal. All of the songs [save the last, "Growing Up,"] are singles. Also, if you read them as one single unit, they become a song of their own, not just "parts of other FOB songs". I will never end up like him Behind my back, I already am Keep a calendar This way you will always know Where is your boy tonight? I hope he is a gentleman Maybe he won't find out what I know You were the last good thing We're going down, down in an earlier round And sugar, we're goin' down swinging I'll be your number one with a bullet Dance, dance, we're falling apart to halftime Dance, dance, and these are the lives you'd love to lead Dance, this is the way they'd love If they knew how misery loved me This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race One night and one more time Thanks for the memories Even though they weren't so great He tastes like you, only sweeter Growing up, growing up This section is about being something you don't want to, wanting a girl you can't have, and then watching it fall apart. Then it's about realizing what your life has come to, and getting over it, and finally coming to realizing that you've grown. |

| The Used – Pretty Handsome Awkward Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think the LYRICS [the whole point here lol] are translated as follows: the "Your dream vacation" line refers to the fact that the person [not naming names here!] will always try their hardest to ruin the good thoughts the other has. "you puke while running a mile" might mean that something easy, like running a mile, is hard because the person is weak. "I beg to differ, make me an offer" could mean that they're inviting the person to try to change their mind but that won't work because he thinks he's right. "Hey are you ok you look pretty low Very handsome awkward Do you feel ok You look pretty low Very handsome awkward", the chorus, is a sarcastic jab at someone. The person looks down and crappy and despite their good looks they're still an awkward loser. "Your market value Your ressurection Your shallow concept" refers to stupid, naiive ideas someone has that seem brilliant but are really total BS. "Nice fucking disguise, so hollow" the face the person puts on is empty and meaningless. "Embrace the burn" could refer to any number of things, but i prefer to think of it as a symbolic, cleansing burn. OK, other stuff: Bert said there was no feud between MCR and The Used. Gerard said there was. I think it's just Gerard and Bert being overdramatic and Bert is trying to clear things up since it's really just between the two. However, this song does sound like a Gerard basher. But I really don't think the other members would agree to that. So idk there. And "The Sharpest Lives" is, in some part, about Bert. I read it in a magazine. It's about Gerard's once-destructive lifestyle, and Bert was a big part of that, so naturally a little bit of Bert snuck in there. |

Um, I think the song is straightforward. He fell in love with someone who didn't know, she got fired and he never told her and feels kind of lonely because he missed his chance again. But he doesn't blame her for not noticing: "It's not your fault that no one ever does." He feels alienated. And I think this website is for people to find the deeper meanings to songs, not badmouth bands you don't like. And I also think that even though people like that are rude, this is also not a place to badmouth those people in return. |

My Chem is my favorite band, This song is awesome. But they'll never be as good as they were in "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love." I agree with Forget The Hero or whatever your name was, sorry. Where's the lyrics about fragments of your skull falling on my tongue like pixie dust? All this is a story about crap. But I love Gerard, as a high school drag queen, as a screamo indie lead singer, as a generic scene icon, and now as a crazy nutter who bleached his brain when he bleached his hair, thinking it would make him look like he'd had chemotherapy. But, I digress. Nothing My Chem could write could be too awful shitty. Just Queen-imitating, "innovative" (pshaw this is such scene junk they came up with this time around) crap. However, it's still Gerard singing. His voice is like a choir of angels. Well, maybe not angels. More like a single, screaming demon. But a hot demon with a sexy voice. |

When I was a young boy, my Father took me into the city, to see a marching band. He said "Son when, you grow up, would you be, the savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned." He said "will you defeat them, your demons and all the non-believers, the plans they have made." "Because one day I leave you, A phantom to lead you in the summer, To join the black parade." When I was a young boy, My father took me into the city To see a marching band. He said, "Son when you grow up, will you be the saviour of the broken, The beaten and the damned?" Sometimes I get the feeling She's watching over me. And other times I feel like I should go. And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets. When you're gone we want you all to know We'll carry on, We'll carry on And though you're dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on Carry on We'll carry on And in my heart I can't contain it The anthem wont explain it. And we will send you reeling from decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Let's shout it loud and clear Do you fight it to the end we hear the call to carry on we'll carry on Though you're dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on we'll carry on and though you're broken and defeated you're wiery widow marches on and on we carry through the fears ooh oh ohhhh the disappointed faces of your peers ooh oh ohhhh take a look at me cos i could not care at all do or die you'll never make me cos the world, will never take my heart you can try, you'll never break me want it all, i'm gonna play this part wont explain or say i'm sorry im not ashamed, i'm gonna show my scar you're the chair, for all the broken listen here, because it's only.. i'm just a man, i'm not a hero just a boy, who's meant to sing this song just a man, i'm not a hero I DON'T CARE!! carry on we'll carry on Though you're dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on we'll carry on and though you're broken and defeated you're wiery widow marches on do or die you'll never make me cos the world, will never take my heart you can try, you'll never break me we'll carry on we'll carry on we'll carry on we'll carry we'll carry on |

| also, it addresses the fact that so many people look up to Gerard Way as like a second Jesus like I did above, when it says, "I'm just a man, I'm not a hero, I'm just a boy who's meant to sing this song" It's a statement that they're just like everyone else, except they have talents and insight into how bad life can be. | |

i think this song is about people with pain in their heart, or perhaps, someone MCR knew, because it seems to talk about a dead person. I think plans refers to suicide plans, demons, to inner demons. then it refers to, i suppose, this song, as an anthem. "and we will send you reeling from decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Lets shout it loud and clear do you fight it to the end we hear the call to to carry on we'll carry on" we're gonna keep on keepin on, even if every time we turn around we're met with animosity, we're still gonna live. the thing about the chair for all the broken means that the person supports the broken. duh. it's "Disappointed faces of your peers". peers as in people similar in age, education, or social class. overall, i think this is just a statement made by MCR that there are people who are hurting, and we're some of them, and we're reaching out to say, you're not alone. this is my new summer anthem. Three cheers for MCR, for being there when your so-called friends turn their backs, for being there when your parents fight, for when your loved ones die, for being there like no one else can be. | Fall Out Boy – I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I found the cure to growing older I think this means suicide. And you're the only place that feels like home Just so you know, you'll never know And some secrets weren't meant to be told I found the cure to growing older I love you and care for you but I won't tell you, that way I won't hurt you when I kill myself. I'm the first kid to write of hearts, lies, and friends And I am sorry my conscience called in sick again And I've got arrogance down to a science Oh, I'm the first kid to write of hearts, lies and friends. I'm alone. I'm the only one who feels this way. I don't care anymore. And even if I do, I know how to pretend I don't. Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's So fitting of the way you are You can't cover it up Can't cover it up. You're so cheap you always feel sorry for yourself and I can see that. Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped Back to your family cause I know you will be missed Go ahead, kill yourself. I know you. you won't go through with it. They call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone But for what we've become, we just feel more alone Always weigh what I've lost against what I left Progress report: I am missing you to death She left him because he didn't care and he misses her Someone old No one new Feeling borrowed always blue Someone old No one new Always borrowed Always you It's all old. Nothing ever new comes from you. The same old self-loathing crap. |

| Fall Out Boy – A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More "Touch Me" Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"I confess, I'm messed up, dropping "I'm sorry” like you're still around And I know you dressed up Hey kid you'll never live this down" To me, this part says, "Yes, I'm a screw-up, I get it, and I'm always apologizing for it, even though you're gone, and you thought you were better than me. But you aren't, and I'm going to get some revenge." "And you're just the girl all the boys want to dance with And I'm just the boy who's had too many chances" Everyone wants to be you... everyone wants to be WITH you... and you've grown tired of me. "I'm sleeping on your folk's porch again, dreaming She said, she said, she said, "Why don't you just drop dead?"" I keep going over the breakup in my head and it kills me. "I don't blame you for being you But you can't blame me for hating it So say, "what are you waiting for? Kiss her, kiss her" I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late" You think you're so much better, you can't help it, and I don't blame you, but I do resent it. I'm not perfect, and I see that, and I try to fix it. But you refuse to see your faults. "Write me off, give up on me 'cause darling what did you expect? I'm just off a lost cause a long shot, don't even take this bet" I'll never be good enough in your eyes. Don't try to change me, because I can't tailor myself to suit your desires. "You can make all the moves, you can aim all the spotlights Get all the sighs and the moans just right" You can try to make me into what you want me to be, but it won't be real. It'll be a facade. I'm sleeping on your folk's porch again, dreaming She said, she said, she said, "Why don't you just drop dead?" I don't blame you for being you But you can't blame me for hating it So say, "what are you waiting for? Kiss her, kiss her" I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late "I'm just always on You said you'd keep me honest (you’re always on) But I won't call you on it" You tried to make me perfect. You said you'd fix my faults. But you couldn't. I knew you couldn't, and that's OK. I'm just always on You said you'd keep me honest (you’re always on) But I won't call you on it I don't blame you for being you But you can't blame me for hating it So say, "what are you waiting for? Kiss her, kiss her" I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late |
