| Hellogoodbye – Baby, It's Fact Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| A simple, cute and gawky little love song. What Hellogoodbye do best. I think the first chorus sounds a bit like Panic! At The Disco. | |
| Kate Nash – Mouthwash Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It is "singing uh-oh on a friday night". The basic concept of the song is just to represent herself as a down-to-earth ordinary girl in an ordinary world. I get the feeling that the "This is my body, covered in skin, not all of it you can see" line is a dig at women in music who use skimpy clothes and sexual suggestion to sell records, whilst she's not like that. |
|
| Kate Nash – Birds Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Ugh...the album version is so over-produced. Some of the background noises are just horrible and really distract from the song. The original version was so beautiful. :[ But on the bright side, at least it hasn't been so badly destroyed as 'We Get On'. | |

Ahh feel me loud you're not wrong!! Just listened to the album version for the first time a minute ago...it's been butchered :[ |

| Eamon – (How Could You) Bring Him Home Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yes, he kills the guy who his girl cheated on him with. | |
| Gregory and the Hawk – Irreplaceable Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Just watched the video of this cover...absolutely beautiful. Her voice is simply amazing. If anyone has an mp3 i'd be very grateful if they could send it my way. | |
| The Bravery – Split Me Wide Open Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Seems to me like a song about a pretty one-sided relationship. He puts his all into it, opens up and tells her everything. She, on the other hand, seems to take him for granted and doesn't invest emotionally in their relationship in the same way he so obviously does. I love the line: "My hands on your body like a blind man's on the wall". |
|
| Editors – Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I just love the concept of "smokers outside the hospital doors" being the "saddest thing" he'd ever seen. A powerful contrast between people fighting for their lives (patients in the hospital) and people throwing them away (the smokers) | |
| Porcelain and the Tramps – Transparent Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Just_Some_Asian...never heard of that one but it makes sense! The first virst is just her venting full-scale anger at him then. Thanks for the input :] | |
| Maroon 5 – Kiwi Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Adam Levine singing these lyrics is just so hot. | |
| Porcelain and the Tramps – King of the World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Using "king" instead of "queen" empowers her more- she comes across as a strong woman challenging feminine stereotypes. I think that's what she's trying to do. | |
| Porcelain and the Tramps – Transparent Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Hmm...i don't see this song as so self-explanatory as other seem to. To me it seems like the singer is directing the verses to her guy, and the chorus to the girl he's cheating on her with. Verse 1: She calls him a "creep", but even though he's cheated on her she won't let him leave. Her "middle finger's in disguise" - she's trying to pretend she's fine & nothing has happened. Chorus: Addressing the girl, she notes the looks that have drawn in her guy - "pretty, perfect...purple highlights". She resents her for taking her man & insults her for being vain ("thinking your ass is as good as it gets") and fake. Her guy has obviously seen something attractive in her, but she sees her as she is- "transparent". Verse 2: She talks about how her guy denies anything has been going on with the other girl ("pretending to play dead in this kitty's house"). She uses a cat & mouse metaphor to show that she knows what's he's been up to and can "toy" with him. At any second she could reveal her knowledge of the truth and destroy him with it. ("close my teeth sharp") ---- I'd be interested to hear other peoples ideas on the story/meaning behind this song. |

| Maroon 5 – Wake Up Call Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Without the catchy hooks and poppy beat this would be one hell of a dark song! The guy gives his girl a warning about what he could be capable of if she "betray"s him with another man. She obviously doesn't pay too much attention to this because he goes on to find her in bed with some other guy. In a crazed fit of jealousy he shoots him. He is satisfied by doing so with the sinister assurance that "he won't come around here anymore". He tries to convinces himself that he doesn't "feel so bad", but then he starts regretting what he's done: "Did I do the wrong thing? / Oh, what was i thinking?". Very dramatic & very Hollywood, with the potential for an awesome music video. |

| Enrique Iglesias – Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song's my current guilty pleasure. It's very self-explanatory like any cheesy pop song but I like it. And i like the video...he suddenly got hotter somehow. | |
| Kate Nash – Foundations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| One more thing...it annoys me so much that i can't find a decent mp3 of it anywhere! | |
| Kate Nash – Foundations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Great song. Saw the music video on TV for the first time the other day. Pretty simply it's about a relationship that's falling apart...and there's nothing left to keep her in it but she can't move on. | |
| Arctic Monkeys – Brianstorm Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is great as a first single from their second album. I love the "...that have wept cos you've stolen their....thunder!" part. And Alex Turner is hot in an i-really-shouldn't-fancy-him way. | |
| Pull Tiger Tail – Animator Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Hehe nah the lyrics are hard to pick up i agree! Only know the right ones cos the guys posted them in a bulletin on myspace :] And yeah the song rocks! | |
| Pull Tiger Tail – Animator Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The PROPER lyrics, straight from the guys themselves... Well lipstick girl is talking slow I wander in and out oh no no no She looks to me, she wants to know This music is too loud oh no no no You suck me sun sweet Suck me sun dry Suck me sun sweet Suck me so I don't know anything, When i give in! Oh Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! She takes my hand, she lets me know My timing is all wrong oh no no no And only when, the lights are low We kiss for way too long oh no no no You suck me sun sweet Suck me sun dry Suck me sun sweet Suck me so I don't know anything, When i give in! Oh Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Hiding in the men's room where she found me Cowering and hoping she was leaving Now's the time to tell a conscientious lie Still there's a part of me that's holding out for Promises of passion and adventure But she has no idea what an adventure is Oh Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! Animator! |

| Hello Saferide – Valentine's Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
In this song she's emphasising the importance of self-worth and self-love. She's leaving her lover and her unhappy relationship with him behind. By doing this she's learning to love herself again like she couldn't before because she gave her all to him. She uses Valentine's Day to show what true love is. Previous Valentine's Days were spent in what is normally seen as the "ideal" conventional way to spend them- i.e. with your lover. However this was far from a good thing, as he treated her badly and made her miserable. Now she'll be alone for Valentine's Day, something that many people fear. However she shows that this is a positive outcome, as she regains the ability to love and respect herself. This song makes a mockery of the commercialism that surrounds the concept of "love" on Valentine's Day, most effectively shown by the irony of the last lines (parody of the cliched "Roses are red..." rhyme). True love is found within yourself. |

| Landon Pigg – Can't Let Go Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
My interpretation... "well you're the closest thing, i have, to bring up in a conversation about love that didn't last, but i could never call you mine, cause i could never call myself yours, and if we were really meant to be, well then we'd justify destiny, it's not that our love died it just never really bloomed" >>> He was in a relationship with someone that has since ended. She's the closest thing he's ever known to love, but there was never any love in their relationship. When they were together it was meaningless and there was no deep connection between them. "no i can't let go, no i can't let go of you you're holding me back without even trying to. i can't let go, i can't move on from the past without lifting a finger you're holding me back. " >>> Even though he never loved her when he was with her, since their break-up memories are affecting him and he can't move on from his relationship with her. They clearly have no further contact, but the thought of her still plays on his mind. "And then we saw our past, diverge... and i guess i felt okay about it. Until you got with another man, and then I couldn't understand why it bothered me so, no we didn't die we just never had a chance to grow. " >>> Seeing her with someone else makes him want her back. He recognises her as something that he has lost, and wonders how things could have been different. "and it might not make sense to you or any of my friends but somehow still you affect the things i do and you can't lose what you never had i don't understand why i feel sad everytime i see you out with someone new" >>> The first part of this makes it sound like she was nothing more than a conquest or trophy girlfriend, something he could brag about with his mates. Just like himself they never saw that he had any strong emotional feelings towards her. Now he regrets ever losing her and misses her. |

| Damien Rice – Rootless Tree Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Anyone who thinks this song is out of character for Damien (i.e. with the swearing) really needs to check out some of his B-sides. Especially the song Woman Like A Man. He does angsty very well. | |
| Damien Rice – Animals Were Gone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is just a brilliant modern day love song. He realises that she's not perfect yet he loves her anyway- "I love your depression and I love your double chin". He has hurt her in the past ("I've left you in places of despair", "I know i've been a liar and I know i've been a fool") but loves her beneath this. "Please throw down your hair" refers to the fairytale of Rapunzel- he wants to save her from her current state of depression. |

| Damien Rice – Accidental Babies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is one of the best on his new album. It's about two people having an affair, both cheating on their respective partners. The song has many references to the sinful nature of their affair and the sexuality within it- "And we use cushions to cover Happy glands In mild issue of our disgrace", "Our bodies pressed and hardened Turning our desire in With no room for a pardon". But it's more than just a cheap fling. As the song progresses, and with the chorus full of rhetorical questions it becomes clear that he really loves her, asking her if her man does all the things for her that he does. He feels that she belongs with him, yet she's still staying with her partner. He urges her to be "free" and leave him if she'd be happier with him instead. |

| Gregory and the Hawk – The Point Sometimes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
To me this song is about the end of a relationship that never really worked to begin with. "Get rid of the ocean If you ever wanna see me again Our shores are separated With or without a boat'" >> He seems distant- there is no close bond between them. She can't continue the relationship unless the barriers are broken down. "And I know that if November had been deader If we'd hidden a bit better We'd be strangers" >> They never had a deep connection. This makes their relationship sound like a last resort rather than something that was always meant to be. "You're a rock, I'm a gull Might be okay to stay if you could hold me But you got no way to do so" >> He doesn't make her happy. There is no attraction to keep them together. "And you know that nothing lasts forever And depending on the weather I'm a changer" >> She's guided by her feelings. The relationship doesn't feel right so she's made the decision to move on. This guy she's with isn't providing her with the happiness and fulfilment she seeks in a partnership. |

| Gregory and the Hawk – Boats and Birds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Phwoar this song is beautiful. Like many people on here seem to, i interpret this as being so in love with someone that you want what's best for them no matter what. "if you be my star I'll be your sky you can hide underneath me and come out at night when I turn jet black and you show off your light I live to let you shine I live to let you shine" = She'll protect him and endeavours to make him happy, letting him fulfil his potential in life and love. "but you can skyrocket away from me and never come back if you find another galaxy far from here with more room to fly just leave me your stardust to remember you by" = If he finds a more attractive alternative to being with her which will make him happier, she is prepared to let him go. She wants the relationship to end before things start to break down, so that in her memory it (and he) will be eternally perfect. |
