this reminds me of my boyfriends first concert...and he sang it in my ear. for me pieces means, "im not perfect, and i tried to be perfect, but you liked me before i tried to be someone i wasnt so you'd like me more, so now i feel a little broken." if anyone gets what that means. the sums are definetly a really good band, but this is one of their few melodic songs...oh well. they dont have to be melodic to be amazing. |

this song always reminds me of when i get grounded. "this is what you wanted, and the jury agrees, this is your sentence." maybe not what i wanted, but i got it. this might actually have something to do with a crime, maybe murder whatever, everythings about murder. soo this girl drives away regretting what shes done, so somewhere along the line she tries to apologise to her boyfriend or whatever, but he wont hear of it, so she drives away ever more distressed, crashes her car, and with no sympathy from her boyfriend, he turns her in for her crimes. "this is what you wanted and the jury agrees, this is your sentence." hmmm doesnt quite fit, but its the only interpretation here. |

i learned how to play this song on the guitar when i was 12, and its one of the few i actually remember from that year. not just because its so easy to play, but because cat's voice is..powerful in that way...where if you saw him play you would just be hypnotized. i do believe he's putting out another albm though. rumor? |

this song is amazing, and im really sad it took me so long to actually buy "north" so ive been listening to this song a lot. ive seen varied opinions on if its murder or suicide, but has anyone thought of the fact that "its a good year for a murder" could mean murdering onesself? actually, when i first heard this song, i thought it was a daughter who killed herself because she did everything for her father who did nothing for her. "all that he gave was a daughter." all that he did was help create her. but as for the murder/suicide issue, i think you can take it either way. and as for the MTV interview, ive heard that andrew doesnt know what its about, and then suddenly he does? wow, just let people interpret things the way they want to. "and its over, but its started" that could apply to murder or suicide. because a new life could start as one ended. figurativly or literally. anyway. i love this song, and im really sad i didnt know it until very recently. i am a butterfly. |
