lol...Quite different from what everyone thinks...This is NOT a love song. lol in a recent interview of RHCP anthony himself said that this is absolutely nuthin to do with love. This is a song about today's world and how people just start new fads and stuff like that out of freakish whims, what anthony in that interview was basically tryin to say was..."All those peeps who think that smokin and drugs are cool or that theyre bein cool by bein sum1 else...Wel F*** off" That pretty much it...yes a zephyr is a mytichal wind a light breeze, also if any1 has ever seen the DragonBallZ Series its that li'l cloud that Goku Flies On...SO Once again...NOT a love song ;) |

Okie In My Opinion, Taltos Got the closest. I Think that the song is about a boy who goes to a prostitute because he doesn't have any1 to control him, to look after him"Didn't know things...17 year old" and a few years later hes a jobles, married father pretty much like his own dad was. He's speaking in his own perspective and he basically thinks back to that day when he had sex with the prostitute. The "Blood Stined Gown" In my opinion represents the pain that his family's goin through cuz the head(the father) is missing. He realizes that this is exactly what his father did to him and that if he doesn't "End This all tonight" his daughters gonna suffer as well. These lyrics don't mean that hes gonna kill himself, it jus means hes gonna turn over a new leaf and that hes gonna stop drinkin smoking cuz remember he throws that gun and throws that bottle, not uses the trigger on himself. And then basically he screams to the heavens and tell his prbably dead father that "I'm Not gonna do what u did to me" and he walks of home to his family. So there thats what i feel this song is about ;) |

Well, first post then...Now You've got to know that I haven't watched "Big Fish" so when I first heard this album, Resemblence to a movie just didn't strike me. Now I've understood this song as an ordinary conversation between a father and his son about life as a whole and living it to the fullest, and putting the bad days behind him. That being the overall meaning.Heres the detailed version. While Reading this please pretend uve never seen "Big Fish" and stop relating to it or your gonna screw up my whole inference =). "I Could...Travelling Sails" - The father explains to his son that there are so many exciting things to do in this life and stuff like hangin around with friends(Who were much taller than the father, hence, giants) or simple things like fishing which were made exciting in the fathers perspective thus makin a fishing boat as exciting as a huge ship with huge sails. "Tell You...Stories Exhaled"(Spelling Error in lyrics btw) - This is where the father tells his son that hes failed so many times in various aspects of life but remembered to forget about them, hes told the story once and then put it all behind him, Exhaled them. "Dryin...This isn't How I Go" - This is where the lyrics got me like a kick in the gut after i heard the next song...Holly Wood Died. I Feel this is where the son tells his dad that all those stories that hes bein told are more or less...Ordinary and that he wants a glamorous lifestyle, a famous lifestyle giving a direct reference to what Holly Wood Died is all about, The gap between the rich and famous...and the poor and not so famous. "I Could...We Are Small" - The father counters the sons statement by remembering a man he once saw who was just a small person in a circus called life where other people such as the trapeze artists or sumn were the fly highers stealin all the spotlight.(Once Again A Link to Holly Wood Died). "Tell You...Changed It All" - The father goes on with his own tale and speaks about that time in every1's life where just like every1, he fell in love and found a partner to enjoy more happy memories with. This next part in the song is SO well conected with the lyrics because the son wants a glamrous lifestyle just like his father HAD wanted but the girl he met..."Changed It All" The father had realized, that he jus wanted a simple life, a good life(Holly Wood Died again) and to be with that 1 special girl. Also Natalie Maines who joins Ryan key at this point in the vocals emphasises that point by singing together and bein portrayed as a couple. "Son I Am...Is Part Of Me" - The Father tells his son that "I'm not a superhero, I'm not the president, I'm not an actor, i dont have a glamourous lifestyle but i know that I've lived my life to the fullest and for me thats what counts(Every Story I Have Told..Is All Me and nothing else)." You keep...Symphony Strums" - Now In the very second post of this songmeaning 'Bluestars' said that most of the albums songs are about breathing a.k.a. living. Thats when both Natalie and Ryan sing to each other as a couple and indirectly tell their son "We dont care if we dont have a famous life, but we have each other to keep us breathing and living(Keeping the air in the lungs)" The chorus is repeated again with Natalie and Ryan singing to their child. "Son I Leave...Part of You" - The father leaves the child to let him think about what he wants in his life and tell him that hes got a long way togo and a lot more to learn and moreover this is the time that he should just enjoy life rather than worry abt those few bad days that come along and just put them behind him and live the life that he has to the fullest. Ill probably go rent "Big Fish" Now that people have mentioned it...but temme what you think abt my other version of "How I Go" ;) |
