Mae – Bloom Lyrics 14 years ago
You actually just took the words out of my mouth. I was just listening to it thinking myself that this might be my all time favourite mae song. The lyrics are amazing, they talk about life and hope and love but have the traditional mae element of beautiful metaphors and they all intertwine together well. Life would cease to exist without mae except that as the song says (and the letter that came with it), nothing ever really dies but blooms in one way or another and meaningful things persevere even just in how they have effected us by listening to them..

Linkin Park – The Messenger Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree with your general idea, but actually think it's the opposite.. I see it as someone talking to the soldier and telling them that while they're fighting and killing and not being able to show love and compassion etc and seeing all the sadness and devestation that war entails (the 'breaking spirit').. Remembering their loved ones at home will give them the strength to push through and make it home either literally or in their mind.

Because life often leaves us blind to what's going on in places overseas where there is war, being home makes it easier for the soldier to forget. And being in a place where they can love again 'keeps them kind'.

Linkin Park – Wisdom, Justice, And Love Lyrics 15 years ago
Yeah I agree :) Though I am slightly biased seeing as I have always greatly respect Dr King. And yes, the song deals with what they said was the concept for the album.. nuclear warfare, apocalypse, war in general, the direction of humanity, fears etc..

It's quite political to sorta answer your question kgrace1023. Apparently in the same vein as Public Enemies 'Fear of a Black Planet'. So this song reflects King's sentiments that the way in which we as humans go about settling differences, that our use of warfare and creation of warriors ruins our humanity.

The line 'cannot be reconciled with wisdown, justice, and love' simply means that war (all the stuff King was talking about) cannot be matched up with, put alongside or be compatible with the values of wisdom, justice and love..

Cyndi Lauper – Time After Time Lyrics 16 years ago
A few people asked about what "the second hand unwinds" means.. A bit late, but my guess is that it refers to the fact that old clocks didn't use batteries (amazing!) and needed to be wound up periodically to keep them going. The spring inside the clock would 'unwind' and drive the hands around the face of the clock. Hence "the second hand unwinds". It probably just refers to the passage of time, though you could extend it to refer to the running out/loss of time, or time ending/stopping (though probably not time ending/stopping, as 'unwinds' is present tense).

What do you mean by a dead end meaning? I think I heard somewhere that the song was about Jason's partner having to be alone waiting for him to return when he was away on tour and the tension that caused between Jason wanting to 'conquer the last frontier' with the band but also wanting to be where she is.. Could be getting confused with another band though as the band Emery has a song called 'In a win win situation' which has a similar meaning. But it still fits with this song either way =P

Underoath – You're Ever So Inviting Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm not gonna share my thoughts on what this song means, but I will point out two allusions:

"Taste and see, I swear I know what's good"
- Psalm 34:8, "Taste and see that the Lord is good..." (It doesn't literally mean taste, but is to emphasise that in trusting God we discover how good He is)

"Be still and know that they won't lie to you every single time you're facing lies"
- Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God..."
