BTW Folks, Judith Marie is Maynard's Mother, and this song is dedicated to her. To Vulken: that is one of the silliest arguments to slander atheism with. First off, science revolves around rules that are discovered through experimentation and logical thought. These scientists use these "Theories" (as you describe it), to make your car, process the cereal you eat, and invent the television you watch, along with everything else you do in your daily routine. Atheism is not an organized religion that dictates any cultural mores or edicts, but rather is a belief shared by a common demographic of people. They are not bound by any doctrine but share common a common belief. I'm no humanist myself, but i do have a subtle optimism towards the will of humanity in general. People do not need a set of documents to tell them how to live their life, they should live life to their terms as make sure that they do not impacts the lives of others, no other rule is neccesary. The Bible is an intricate tool used for fear mongering and is not a guideline to live by, let others live life to their own accord. Creationism is an antiquated attempt to understand the world that we reside in. Natural Selection, on the other hand, is a process backed by empirical data which follows logical patterns to arrive to conclusions. "theories", vulken, are only reserved to things not yet verified but have substantiative evidence. Myths however, require no hard evidence and therefore serve no purpose other than imposing a tale or a moral to an audience. Christianity, like all religion which revolve around circular reasoning, will pass into history as a myth soon enough. But, to your credit, you are right: we have so much more to discover and to learn, humanity has yet to delve into the majority of secrets that this world keeps, and while scientists may change opinions, we do live in a world of change, where ideas can become debunked and a more logical idea can be put forth and embraced, the old world mentality which revolved around religions of the book is slowing dissipating and giving room to logical and metaphysics which depend upon it. While we are not ready to stand upon the legs of evolution, we are moving into enlightenment from the shadow of out-dated metaphysics. |
