I agree with ambero444. I don't think it has anything to do with a relationship. rather, it sounds like he's incredibly lonely, hence incredibly unhappy. he seems to cope with this by trying to fill his empty heart with material objects and convincing himself that he's found 'love' in them. as for "andrea", misery loves company. it's like, they're both in the same boat, so they keep each other company, maybe have loveless relations. |

everyone has their own obsession, or addiction, or whatever you want to call it. the song itself says that in the first verse. I think it's about your own reason for living, and not everyone's is God, so I doubt it was meant to be a strictly religious song. |
