I think this song is about what you can take with you when you die. Building wonders and selling your soul to gather riches in this life. Burying it beneath your platinum headstone only to end up with nothing. I like the transition between precious gold and worthless gold towards the end of the song.

Every song being about relationships is at least a step up from every song being made political. That's what get me irritated.
But this song does make a lot of sense in regard to relationships, it could hold plenty of other meanings, but personally I've had my share of relationships going sour and feeling tormented over them. Plenty of experience living in the past and missing all the chances that have past me by, feeling defeated by the past but still hanging on. |

I think this song is metaphorically using war to relate to an ending relationship. It's about a love that's on again and off again and how the little cuts and jabs lead up to it's ultimate end.
At least that's my take. This is an incredible song musically and is my favorite SSP song, followed closely by Three Seed. |

It's a pretty simple song really, I can relate.
Guy likes girl but is pretty shy and the girl ignores him. Later he realizes he's got something to offer and can get attention from a lot of girls, so in an attempt to make this one girl jealous, tells her to wait while he checks out his other options. But he still wants her because she was his first love. |

I think I lean towards this song being about a girl that he really wanted to have a relationship with but things didn't work out. I think that fits in with the general theme of the album better then the idea of a drug problem. This song follows Diary of Jane and Breath which are both about relationships gone sour somehow.
Either way, I really love this whole album. Breaking Benjamin has really come a long way with their music, easily one of my favorite bands. |
