| R.E.M. – Leave Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
For me this song is about dying but also about leaving things in general, places, relationships behind. We need to leave things and we should also leave the memories behind that are painful in order to move on (memory, leave, leave). This song means a lot to me since I heard it for the first time. It makes me feeling sad but at the same time gives me hope to move on and leave things behind. |

He is about to leave his girlfriend. "There's nothin' to save that I know You live 'til you die" existentialism. You have only this life, make the best out of it, sooner or later you will die. |

"For all I've seen has changed my mind But still the wars go on as the years go by" this part makes me almost cry everytime I listen to |

| Bad Religion – Atheist Peace Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Being against religion doesn´t necessarily mean you cannot believe there is some sort of god around who created the universe. But the religions we know today all come from naive ideas of nomad tribes in the middle east more than 2000 years ago. It is a shame people still follow and make wars about it. Atheists believe they have only one life and they tend to rather enjoy than fight each other and die for stupid ideas. So I do belive in Atheist Peace, although I don´t call myself one. |

| If Jesus guides our president, I don´t want this Jesus to guide me. True lyrics. | |
| Liquido – Narcotic Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It is about a broken relationship and he tries to let her go and don´t mind. He only mentions being on marijuana (Mary-Jane), cocaine is only a way to compare his addiction to her. | |
| Pearl Jam – State of Love and Trust Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The drums could be played better, I agree. Apart from that, a perfect song. When you feel depressed it makes you think of suicide and not do it. | |
| Portishead – Roads Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Those who ever felt like that in life know exactly what it is about. The lyrics speak it out. This song is so amazing. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Mosquito Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think the song is about eat and be eaten. We all will feed the worms and trees (worms eat bodies after they are burried and those who get burned become CO2 and feed the trees), so could mean it is just fair enough we eat the "finest meat" we can taste while we are alive, whatever that means ... (canabalism?) The mosquitos that are "eating you alive" make the teller think of all those things. So thats maybe why he named the song. |

| Queens of the Stone Age – Go With The Flow Lyrics | 18 years ago |

she left him and he describes how he feels. ironically he says that he can "go with the flow", have affairs with others, "falling in and out of love", "somethings sweet (girls) to throw away" But that´s not what he really wants, "But I want something good to die for" a relationship good to die for |

| Queens of the Stone Age – No One Knows Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
@rainwalk But in the final verse he says "what a gift here below" not "what a gift can be love" as quoted here. Could be wrong but I believe it is not about love. No one knows ... so we need to be suspicious and question everything we are told. Especially when people promise heaven or something that cannot be proved. That has been my philosophy ever since I began to think. And no song expresses it like that. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Slow Cheetah Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
In my opinion it is another song about drug addiction and trying to get away from it. The first part describes the morning after a drug use and the emptiness he feels having no more drugs to take. (Waking up dead inside of my head Whenever never do there is no med No medicine to take) The drug use was his way to escape from the real life out there (I’ve had a chance to be insane Asylum from the falling rain) But he realizes he is playing with his life (I’ve had a chance to break) Talking about drugs (It’s so bad it’s got to be good) "Any other day" he would say no to drugs (play A funeral march for Bonnie Brae) But his addiction is stronger (Why try and run away) Chorus: He invites the slow cheetah, maybe someone who turned out to be not as he expected in the past, to become high together (Slow cheetah come it's so euphoric) knowing it is not the right thing to do He describes the irony how common people are made to believe in a dream world (They tried to tell her she would never be As happy as a girl in a magazine) and that people like this girl are actually the ones who make this dream world happen by spending their money (She bought it with her pay) The next part is about people in general talking too much without thinking (Everyone has so much to say They talk talk talk their lives away Don´t even hesitate) follow until they die in the way people always did without reflecting It is just my opinion, I think a lot of lyrics on that album deal with drug addiction and getting away from it. Describing the world from the view of a drug user who knows he needs to quit but still ejoys being high. Great songs anyway on that album, every single one. |

| It is obviously sarcasm. And straylite is right, times have not changed. They all still listen to the corridors of power in washington d.c. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – No One Knows Lyrics | 19 years ago |

In the first part it describes how we are lead and mislead by others who do not know what they do to us (cause NO ONE knows) The chorus is about how he finds out that god is whatever you want to believe (because no one knows anyway) and that he was a fool to follow others In the second part it describes how we lose faith when we feel lost and left alone and religion is like a dead lifeboat and we discover it cannot save us In the end he says "heaven smiles above me, what a gift here below, but no one knows" . Religions promise heaven, but what does it help us here below? And no one knows so how can we believe? The gift of heaven that the religions promise us - no one knows. That´s what the song is about for me. I actually never thought it could mean something else. But it is really interesting to read other opinions. |

| R.E.M. – Losing My Religion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
For me this song is about being in love with someone who does not have the same feelings and keeps hurting him. He feels pushed away (that´s me in the corner) and tries to win the attention of that person (that´s me in the spotlight) but loses hope (losing my religion) that the other one will ever love him. He feels like an idot(Oh no I've said too much) but at the same time feels he hasnt done enough to express his feelings (I haven't said enough) He wishes to hear a sign of hope from the other person (I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try) "But that was just a dream" ... Could be wrong but that´s what I always understood listening to the song. |
|
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Snow (Hey Oh) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| great comments ... it is definitely about cocaine use. The best lyrics about addiction that I know. Realizing that it is killing you but don´t find the way to really quit "When will I know that I really can’t go To the well once more time to decide on" | |
| Pearl Jam – Deep Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I also agree with Phoenixero. He just misses to mention it generally describes the urge to get deep ... literally and longing to have deep and thrilling emotions. Some people try to satisfy by drug use (first part), murder (second part) or rape (third part). But they will always fail to reach satisfaction (can´t touch the bottom) | |
