| I really love this song, but I think my take on it might be a bit unpopular, but anyway, here's how I see it. The song starts out seeming like a basically irreligious song. But when he sings, "I'd give away eternity/If you would come back to me," it gives the song a different meaning. Here's how I see it: the guy in the song's girlfriend (or at least female friend) died, and he is depressed. He slept through Easter and Christmas (which to him don't matter anymore). And now these people are trying to pull him to god, but that's not what he wants. If he prays at all, it would just be for "her to call [him] there" ("there" being heaven). He'll give up his life to be with her. And at the end he says that he would "give up eternity" to have her with him again. | |
