| The Wallflowers – Sleepwalker Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I am still in love with this song to this day. Even though The Wallflowers' albums are few and far between, I believe it's about quality, not quantity. I hold Jakob Dylan as one of the greatest songwriters, I daresay, of all time. | |

| Actually I don't believe it would have fit on DPP. You can fit 80 minutes of audio on a standard CD, and DPP is already 75:47 long, as downloaded from iTunes. this track is 4:57 long, so it's just barely over the 80 min mark. It's highly possible they wanted it on the album, but were forced to cut one track and this is it... | |

| GOD THERE'S SO MUCH DETAIL IN THIS SONG. The orchestration is perfect, but trust me, if you never have, turn this all the way up in your headphones, you will hear so much that you've never heard before. Tuomas is the greatest songwriter in the metal world, if not the entire world... | |

| Nightwish – Amaranth Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| *applauds* i love your closing statement! people are so quick to believe what they're told without being able to think for themselves. drives me insane when people can't see past their own narrow point of view or look at things objectively... | |

Man you guys are so closed-minded... pencils never said "i am a satanist" but you treat him as if he did. These are not his lyrics, he's just interpreting them, and giving much-needed background as to the symbolism in the song. BTW! Who ever said satan is automatically a man?! |

This song goes to show you how incredibly talented this group of musicians is. With Tarja it was all about how well they could blend opera and metal, and they succeeded multiple times, but it was getting stale. I mean how many times can they do the same thing? But this album takes a totally different turn, and just sounds incredible. It's well-produced, well-written and very well performed. This song in particular exemplifies that. Whereas "The Poet And The Pendulum" and "Amaranth" show off their incredible compositional skills and Annette's wonderful voice, this song brings in a totally different influence that you would never have guessed at, having heard only their older albums. Two thumbs way the hell up! |

ok rather than b*tching about why nobody's posted on such a great song, i'm going to offer my theory on why nobody's posted on such a great song. i think it's because this is the last track on the wallflowers least-selling album. hence, nobody's heard it. that being said, this song is amazing. so full of feeling, yet so simple at the same time. the wallflowers have an amazing talent for making songs that way, and i really love the little hidden track after this too. jakob dylan is an amazing songwriter. |

| It’s right at the end of a relationship, when he’s still clinging to how it was in the beginning of the relationship. She’s stopped feeling anything for him, and all he wants is to feel the way he felt at the beginning of it all. I should know, I went through something like that recently. | |

I swear you guys are all morons. If you'd look for a little bit more information on the band, you might stumble across one of like 10 interviews that Paul McCoy has done, and find that he basically denies the idea that they're a Christian band at all. He explains that 3 of the members are definitely hardcore Christians, and that much of their song writing is in fact influenced by Christ, but that they don't consider themselves a Christian band. It’s not a title they want applied to them or their music. The other thing is that it doesn't matter at all if they're Christian and they swear at the end of the video. The swearing could be symbolic of being in hell, or it could have some other hidden meaning that I can't think of at this time, but either way, they never claimed to be Christian, just like evanescence never did. People just labeled them that way. And if you're a so-called "true Christian" and can't forgive one little swear word, then you're just as blind and narrow minded as a Satanist. Jesus and the bible both teach forgiveness. He didn't want you to get all fire and brimstone towards people who sin- he never did, did he? No. He wants you to reach out to those people who are lost, and he understood that people in that situation just aren't going to listen to someone screaming in their face about going to hell if they don't change. That’s exactly what this band is addressing with their music; they're reaching out to millions and getting a great and powerful message across. And to those of you posting "Fuck" and "Fuck Jesus" and "Christians are brainwashed wimps" and shit like that, get a frickin life. Overall I love 12 Stones. Their music has lifted my spirits through some of the most depressing and extremely difficult times in my life. I even reached out to Paul McCoy and sent him a letter and he responded back with a lot of supportive words and it really helped me out a lot. Basically what I’ve learned lately is to stop listening to the people I listened to while I was growing up and whose approval I’ve always sought. I just need to be myself. This is definitely the song that got me into 12 Stones though. Just an amazing piece of high quality music. Very sad that they haven't caught on in the mainstream the way they deserve. |

i listened to the song once again and i think i've kinda put together a meaning for it. i think it has a lot to do with becoming immortal, hence the name "eternal". the first part is somewhat lively and represents some sort of struggle to gain immortality, or maybe the excitement or wonder you might feel at first when you become immortal. then the second part after the rain kinda deals with "ok now i'm alone so now what do i do for the rest of the time?" and the end just fades out like the rest of eternity is just droning on and on and on... just a theory, but let me know what you all think. |

| Evanescence – Give Unto Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| yesterday was the first time i actually looked at the lyrics to this song and i have to say the first thing that comes to mind is that God is speaking to someone in their darkest hour and saying "let me bear your pain for you." i'm not sure where anyone could find a love song in here, but i've looked over the lyrics a hundred times today and i can't put it together in that way. but again, as those above me said, to each his own. | |
| The Wallflowers – God Says Nothing Back Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i think it could be a take on the 9/11 tragedy and/or the end of the world. "seems like the world's gone underground" could mean like "seems like this world's gone to hell" "tear drops from a hole in heaven come" could symbolize the planes "____ says nothing back but i told you so" could be like how we all knew this was coming eventually. there's some other clues that point to my theory if you look at it, but honestly i'm not sure if this is right or not. idk. just a thought. like the other posters before me, there's so much symbolism it's hard to understand what he means. |

This song to me is most definitely a song about growing up and maturing, and it’s special to me cuz it's my favorite song to play on guitar. "If you only once would let me Only just one time Then be happy with the consequence With whatever's gonna happen tonight" -He's talking to his parents about letting him make his own mistakes, and not controlling his social life as much- letting him have more freedom, if you will. "Don't think we're not serious When's it ever not The love we make it's give and its take I'm game to play along" -This is like telling them not to just disregard the fun that we have as teens as being senseless or foolish. We do think about the future, believe it or not. We just need to experience things for ourselves, as we grow older. "All the best DJ’s are saving The slowest song for last When the dance is through It's me and you Come on, would it really be so bad?" -With this verse he moves on to kind of describing a scene, like he's trying to get a girl to fall in love with him. "The things we think might be the same But I won't fight for more It's just not me to wear it on my sleeve Count on the for sure" -He's matured enough now to know he's not really ready to make decisions that will affect the rest of his life. I love this song so much more every time I listen to it. It’s just amazing. I bought the new album the day it came out, and then that weekend I drove 11 hours both ways to see my girlfriend, and I just could not stop playing this song the entire way there and back. I really wish I would've had this song in high school, cuz it describes exactly how I felt the entire time. I don't think I’ll ever find a song writer that I love more than Jim Adkins. More and more he just blows me away at the amount of depth that he's able to put into his lyrics. |
