| A beautiful song – one that always allows me to centre myself. When it plays, I am transported to those cliffs and experiencing the incredible clarity brought about by contemplating my death. Not in any divorced contemplation but the real vision of broken body, blood, and death. The power comes from the approach of death – the ultimate cognitive act of being completely aware. Fantastic song, and an artist that I am truly in love with. | |

Come on guys, this is all about a friend coming down from a high. Here we have paranoia (“are you alone?”, “I was not followed” etc), with Imogen caring and helping someone chill – coming off the high to land in the cleared – safe – environment. Her being scared - for the drugged friend and probably for their own safety rather than hers. And her being prepared to see them through their high, and be there when cold, harsh reality bites. Imogen seems to be a good friend – but how could she not be when she can produce such incredible music? :) |

Fantastic song, great use of vocal sounds other than singing makes it unusual and powerful. I have to say that this whole song sounds to me like a child's view of a divorced parent moving their family in with their new partner’s family. The pictures of the previous family removed, furniture displaced and removed as the old spouse left. Trains (toys) and sowing machines moved out of rooms to provide space for the new family (Imogen herself perhaps?). And the overarching decision of the parent – that they only meant well but still destroyed something that once was good. The ransom notes (“if you loved me you would...”), the newspaper platitudes (“it’s for the best”), cannot allay the frustration that the child feels for the parent who made a decision to make the parent happy, one that made the child unhappy. Been there, done that (as the kid anyway). Your whole world falls to pieces around you and you can’t believe that other people don’t notice, care, or even are effected by something so powerful. Wouldn’t it be great if Imogen gave some insight into her songs somewhere?!! |
