I read somewhere (not sure how true it is) that the song realtes to an eviction party held in honour of a Filipino landlord, in which a pig was barbecued on old box spring, possibly in the house. Far-fetched I guess.
I also recall him recounting a comment from his wife, Kathleen lamenting that when she finally appeared in one of his songs it was in some highway-side dive bar (The Little Red Recovery Room) in her underwear. |

This is a fav at my house and we quote it often for our own amusement. For example when it rains, someone invariably announces the intention to go shoot billiards with a midget...
Note the reference to Illinois, home state of his wife, Kathleen. |

the secon stanza makes me think of the way men and women in the country where I grew up might approach a litter of kittens.
